Blog tour: Review for Penumbra by Logan Patricks

Penumbra
By
Logan Patricks

In one night, I lost everything: my hopes and dreams, my best friend, and Shadow’s heart. He told me he loved me, but it was just a lie.
The Midnight Society has fallen, reduced to ashes by a monster--a person whom we all once trusted. The betrayal has shattered our lives forever and Shadow, Lord of the Midnight Society, finds himself at a crossroad.
One road leads him further down the path of vengeance, filled with unending violence and dead bodies. The other road leads to me. However, our path to happiness is paved with broken glass and razorblades, and at some point, one of us is going to fall.
Welcome to the world of the Midnight Society.

My 5 star review

When I read Semblance I was amazed how someone could create such a wonderful action packed story. In Semblance: Book One of The Midnight Society there was a lot of characters and a lot of things were happening. I thought and called Logan Patricks a creative genius time and time again. I have been waiting for this book to come out. No waiting isn’t the right word to us stressing/obsessing would be the correct word to use.  I am not going to lie I may have even stalked his Facebook page quite a few times to see the progress of Penumbra, but hey I blame Shadow and Lincoln for that.

Penumbra is a jaw dropping read. It has some very sexy scenes in here that made me want to rush home to my man, honest! I loved Semblance but now I have to say that Penumbra is way better times ten. Logan Patricks has a way of drawing you into the world of The Midnight Society. I mean I want to be a part of it as well.
Shadow is still my favorite even though he can be a huge dick. He is still sexy as all hell and his whole domineer is freaking hot still. I feel for the guy because he is still tripping off his sister totally screwing with his mine. I mean I would to, so I can’t blame the man for being a totally douche bag.  Aria is still the sexy, bold, brave girl she was in book one. I do really like her character. I also love how passionate she is about the people that she lost. She is a very powerful character. Then you have Lincoln who is yum yum yummy. Lincoln has been another one of my favorites. I just want this guy to be happy and Calisto totally fucked him up. (Sorry for the language, mother)

While reading this book I had a shocked look on my face because there is more things happening and going on in this book. Then some of these characters are in New Orleans and just they was he writes about it makes me want to escape and go there. The detailed writing of this book is beyond beautiful. If I was to read this book to you and you close your eyes I swear it is as if you are really there. That is how Logan Patrick rolls. There are some twist, turns, dead bodies, hot men, beautiful woman, bitches, dicks, and magic. I freaking loves all of it and I can’t wait for book three to come out. So yes…. I will be stalking away.

Logan Patricks Bio
Logan discovered both love and heartbreak at the tender age of seven, when the pretty little blue-eyed girl next door stole his Kit-Kat bar and shared it with the bad boy from across the street. Devastated, Logan found solace by escaping into imaginary worlds he forged with words, creating kingdoms where the chivalrous knight always got the princess.
Twenty three years later Logan spends his days in a suit and tie, working for the government on matters of network security. However his thoughts never strayed too far from the incendiary nature of love — the passionate fire that’s both scintillating and dangerous. Obsessed with exploring the steamy and mysterious side of human nature, Logan continues to create worlds filled with thrills, mystery, and of course, sex.

Grace for Drowning By Maya Cross OUT NOW

I couldn't be more pleased by how the book turned out, and I think you're going to love it. Reviewers seem to be really enjoying it so far too. A few quotes:

" I am so in love with these two tragically flawed characters. This is such a powerful story that touches on really big issues and you did it so beautifully" - Stephanie from the Boyfriend Bookmark.

" I literally just finished and I'm ready to re-read it just because I don't want to be done yet. I think this is the most raw, passionately charged book I've read in a long while." - Miranda from Mommy's a Book Whore

Hope is a dangerous thing. I know that more than most. Everything good I’ve ever had has been stolen from me — my friends, my fiance, my innocence, some would say even my sanity. All I have left is the cage. Fighting is the only thing that eases the ache inside me even a little. It’s the only thing that keeps the bottle at bay.

I was content to ride out my life alone. I was done dreaming that things could be better. But then I met Grace, and suddenly, I couldn’t not dream.

She's battling those same demons, only she's losing. I don’t want to care, but something about her calls to me. That pain in her eyes is so sharp, so familiar. I know it’s only a matter of time before it pulls her below the surface.

I can help her, and maybe, just maybe, she can help me too. For the first time in what feels like forever, I’ve got hope, and that scares the hell out of me.

Not suitable for younger readers. This is an intense story that deals with issues of alcoholism and military PTSD, and it contains adult content.

Excerpt

There were fresh tears rising behind my eyes now, and this time they weren’t for me. I felt like the world’s biggest bitch. “I…I’m sorry, Logan. I’m sorry.”

He nodded, seemingly not trusting himself to speak. I couldn’t blame him. That scene was more horrific than anything I’d experienced in my life. I was struck by an immense sense of shame. How much death had Logan seen? How many friends had been ripped away from him before his eyes? It didn’t bear thinking about. And here I was crying over one lost life. I probably looked so childish. If Logan could find a way to overcome his pain, then so could I.

“How do you stop it destroying you?” I asked.

“By acknowledging you don’t control the world. We all make choices. Some of them are good, others are a fucking disaster, but very few things are the result of a single action. What if our CO had sent us to another village that day? Or the insurgent leader was slow with his dinner and the attack came five minutes later? What if Ace never enlisted at all? There are a million variables to everything. Blame isn’t black and white. I know I contributed to his death in some small way, but I also know I’m not responsible. You need to realise that too.” He stepped closer and reached out to brush my face where a single tear had leaked down. “There’s a girl in here somewhere who deserves a second chance, and you owe it to her to make that happen.”

The tenderness in his voice filled me with warmth. I stared up at him, everything inside me in tatters. I hurt for me and for him, for Tom and for Ace. There was so much pain, and right then it felt like we were both ready to drown in it. I desperately wanted something to cut through all that, if only for a moment.

There was barely a foot between our faces now, and slowly but surely, that space was shrinking further still. His hand lingered on my cheek, his eyes locked to mine. I could feel the heat of him enveloping my skin like steam, his scent swelling in my nostrils. There was something stirring in my stomach, something hungry and desperate and lonely. I knew I needed to look away, to break the spell of that moment, but his sheer presence held me in a trance.

He stood poised over me for what felt like a lifetime, gaze hungry, breath trembling, fingers dancing tiny circles across my skin, then with a low growl he pulled back.

Review for The Shadow by A.G. Porter

Science-Fiction Fantasy

The Shadow
by
A.G. Porter

Rayna Stone is an eighteen-year-old girl from a small Alabama town that just wants to save a little money for college. In order to do that she has to find a summer job. The problem with that, the only place that is willing to take her is the upscale golf resort of The Landing. This was not her idea of a summer job, being around snobby, rich folks, but when she meets eyes with the owner’s son, Liam, she starts to see the brighter side of things. That is until she’s seeing things that she can’t quite explain and having dreams that are haunted by a being she calls The Shadow.
The Shadow begins to show her things about a few missing girls, that she wished she had never seen. Another chilling fact, her dreams seem to be coming true. As if that isn’t enough, she learns that this ability of hers gives her an insight into what others around her are feeling. Soon after this, Rayna learns that Liam does feel something for her, but even though she wants to tell him she feels the same, something is warning her to stay away. Not because he is dangerous, but because she is.

My 4 star review

This book is truly unlike any other book that I have read. This book took me by surprise because I normally read romance books or biographies. I can say that I am very happy that I got asked to read this book. It was like I was watching a crime show. I was on the edge of my seat and I literally picked all my nail polish off my nails while reading this book. This story has so much suspense in it…. I think I now have another ulcer. I couldn’t stop! I needed to know what happens.

I mean Rayna is this very special girl and boy does she have to endure a lot of crap. I mean I would go insane if I have those kinds of nightmares, really I would. I feel really bad for her in this story because of what she has to do and what she has to go through. Liam is a super cute Australian boy and there is more to him and I just can’t figure out what it is…. Logan becomes Rayna best friend and he listens to her tell him all about the nightmares that she has.

There are a lot of characters in this book. I thought long and hard on how I was going to write this review, because there is a whole lot going on. Well I can’t express my feeling the way I want too, because if I do then I will defiantly give the story away. So just know that this book is so worth reading and I am not going to start book 2. I will not get another manicure until I finish book 2…. (Great advice baby)

Oh and one last thing… the Shadow is a monster and I really need to know what happens to his sick, twisted, crazy ass in book 2…..

My name is Amanda Porter (A. G. Porter) and I am an Independent Author. My first YA Novel, The Shadow, is now available for purchase. I am super excited about this and can't wait to share this story with everyone. A little about me? Well, of course I love to write. I am also an avid reader. When I'm not writing or reading then I'm taking pictures. I love photography whether it be nature or photography for families.
My favorite genre to read is YA. However, I am one of the biggest Dean Koontz fans ever!
I enjoy writing stories about real people in supernatural situations. I also put a lot of my faith into my books because I know that without Christ I am lost and without God I am nothing.

Review for Falling for Shock by Eryn LaPlant

Falling for Shock
By
Eryn LaPlant

Oliver Hannel, England’s sexiest new star, has finally moved from the television screen to the silver screen, playing comic book hero The Shock in Hollywood’s upcoming blockbuster. While filming one summer night in the midwestern town of Greenfield, Indiana, Oliver finds himself witnessing a crime in progress. Will he embrace his inner superhero and save the day? Or will he remember he isn’t invincible and call for help?

Layla Brooks is a small town girl with a big spirited heart, especially when it comes to her twin sister, Lucy. She will rest at nothing to protect her from a casino mogul’s henchman bent on collecting a debt… even if that includes taking her sister’s punishment. But a strange suited man from out of the shadows isn’t about to let that happen.

Oliver and Layla’s opposite worlds collide with a Bam! But are either of them ready for the lies, truth and lust that comes along with a relationship born of shock? Or will their love come and go as fast as a bolt of lightning?

I have to say that I actually fell in love with this book. Eryn LaPlant you did a fantastic job with this book and I am so happy that I got the change to read your book.

My 4.5 star review

Layla Brooks is beautiful woman who has a HUGE heart. She is very talented and just go giving. Especially when it come to her twin sister Lucy. I have to say that I admire Layla's character because if I was put in her shoes I don't know if I would be as strong as she was.

Lucy is what I call a free spirit kind of girl. You know she will go wherever the wind takes her. She had a little bit of bad luck and is put in a very crappy, bad, dangerous situation. She is very lucky to have a sister like Layla.

Oliver Hannel is a sexy star from England. He is staring in a film called The Shock in Layla's home town. He is a very humble person and you will fall in love with this character. I like his theory and why he has it but I won’t spoil it for you.....

Now Oliver is now on my book boyfriend list. The crazy thing is that Eryn literally drew me in to him. Sounds crazy…. I know but she did. I am in love with Oliver. When I was reading this book I was thinking holy hell watch out Superman and Batman. Oh yes, honey I totally just said that and I mean it. I am not even a superhero kind of girl either. Please don't kill me for saying that, I am so sorry. BUT Eryn you just turned me on to some Superhero’s. I loved this story and I didn't want it to end and I so can read this again. AND I know I will.

Now.... Go and one click this book. You will love it. I promise!

**Warning**

Prepare to laugh your butt off and become extremely hot & bothered! Brooklyn Bennett breaks the mold when it comes to female heroines she is not your average chick! She loves sex, hot guys, and her best friend Savannah fiercely and has a slight obsession with Jared Leto.

Blurb!

You got to know me in my best friend Savannah’s series, now it’s my turn to tell you my story and for you to see my best friends journey to her happily ever after through my eyes.

My life is far from the norm. First off I’m not your average girl. I’m wild, crazy, and everyone who knows me say’s I’m a free spirit. I guess am because I don’t sweat the little things.

Life is too short.

I love hard and live harder. My dream is to become a star and that dream comes first and foremost before anything and anyone...except for my best friend Savannah who I'd go to hell and back for. At 24 years old, I’m not looking for love. I’m just looking for a good time and a nice distraction after busting my butt on a movie set all week. The thought of falling in love has never crossed my mind. I’m too driven for love and everything that comes with it.

That is until I meet a certain Southern hottie by the name of Dixon Beaumont who just so happens to be the cousin of Kayden Knox. From the moment we meet he flips my world upside down.

The only problem, he’s the male version of me: Career driven and enjoys having a good time with no plans on settling down.

Throw in a bad boy rocker and a sweet Aussie and I find myself going from a simple carefree life to a full blown love square. It’s going to be dramatic, but hey what’s life without a little drama?

My 5 Star review

I loved Interview with a Master. I was super excited to get my hands on book two but I was also nervous. I say that with honestly. Jason Luke did a freaking fantastic job writing book one. He captured my attention and he held on to it the entire book. Well Jason Luke proved that I didn’t need to be nervous, not one bit.

“Anticipation is at its most effective, most seductive, when the next moment remains a mystery.” ~Jonah Noble

The first part of this book is kind of dark in my opinion. Jonah Noble is well he is dying and he is entering a dark world within himself and let’s face it, that is never good. He is depressed and believing that he will die with No Regrets, until something happens that, will changes his whole outlook on his life.
After I finished this book I was not sure how I felt about the ending. I was mad at Jason Luke but I was also happy too. We have all been in love before and we all know it never last. Love in my opinion is bittersweet. Love doesn’t last forever because we don’t last forever. I for one am so happy that he wrote a love story that can and very well really happen and play out just like Jonah Noble and Leticia Fall’s did. Yes I would of love a book three, four, and five but I knew that wouldn’t happen.

“Most men are more interested in their erection, and what they will get afterwards to be focused enough to stay in tune with their woman’s needs while pleasuring them,” I explained. “Because women are stimulated so differently, and because their arousal and release begins at a different place to a man’s, the man needs to be totally committed and patient. This is not a miracle solution for millions of frustrated women – it’s just common sense. But with the right attitude a man who knows this technique has within him the ability to sexual enslave a woman. It’s been my experience that once a woman has enjoyed this kind of an orgasm, they become desperate for more of the same.”
~ Jonah Noble

When I read Vignettes of a Master I had a small feeling that he would end the book this way. BUT great, amazing, brilliant, talented authors push the limits when they write and Jason Luke did just that.
Now there are twist and turns in the book. I would have never guessed them but I enjoyed them. Overall I enjoyed this book very much. If I could describe this book in one word it would have to be Bittersweet. As soon as I got done reading this book I called my fiancĂ©e Lee and was rambling on and on about my feelings and he said “babe you feel this way because his writing has affected you in one way or another”. God I hate when he is right. LOL I am absolutely head over heels in love with Jason Luke’s writing.

Now that the book is over I hope that Mr. Jason Luke continues to write and if he does I will continue to read all of his work. He truly knocked me on my ass and then picked me back up with this book.

Jason Luke Bio

Jason Luke is an Australian author who began writing in September 2013 at the suggestion of his longtime girlfriend. 'Interview with a Master' is Jason's first erotic BDSM novel.
Jason Luke enjoyed several years involved in the BDSM lifestyle - but he is quick to point out that his experiences don't qualify him as an expert; any more than knowing how to drive a car makes him a qualified mechanic. 'Interview with a Master' is a novel about how one man became a Master. The book is a work of fiction, but Jason has drawn heavily on encounters from his own real life. He won't say which parts of the book are fictionalised, and which parts are auto-biographical.
Before taking up writing, Jason worked 6 days a week, 12 hours a day running a variety of retail businesses.
He has lived in Sydney all his life.
His favourite bands are U2 and INXS.
