My 4 Star review

Shaunna is one heck of a publicist and let’s face it, in Hollywood sometimes you have to be cut-throat. Her client Kyle is such…there are words I want to use but my mother reads these reviews, so I will just say he is a big huge JERK. Now, Shaunna’s other client Michelle happens to be Kyle’s wife and let’s just say that this woman has to be Mother Teresa’s twin to be able to deal with a man like Kyle.

Then you have David Quinn and he is so cute and sexy that you just can’t help but stare at him. He is an actor that has had his bad luck with finding films, well that is until Nathan and Gus get him.

While reading Exposure, I already hated Kyle after reading just a few chapters. And yes in the fashion of me, I did message Jennifer and tell her that I was not a fan of him. But then something happened and I actually ended up feeling sorry for him, which unfortunately only lasted about a minute.

So now you know my least favorite character here is my favorite. Now I really liked Shaunna but I think Michelle is truly my favorite character out of this book. I just love how she is with everyone. All she cares about is others even while her husband is doing everything he can to destroy her emotionally.

I enjoyed Exposure. There is a lot of humor, romance, comedy, sexy movie stars, hot sex, sexy cars, and movie references within its covers. And I will not lie; I did have to look some of them up. Yes, I even Google’d a few of them too. I absolutely loved the ending and I am so glad that the villain of this story got everything that he deserved; reading that put a huge smile on my face.

Jennifer and Morgan Locklear, you two did an outstanding job with this book. I couldn’t get enough of all the characters. Thank you for writing it. You completely nailed it!

Review: Stepbrother Dearest by Penelope Ward

Stepbrother Dearest

Penelope Ward

#1 Bestseller in Romance!

You're not supposed to want the one who torments you.

When my stepbrother, Elec, came to live with us my senior year, I wasn't prepared for how much of a jerk he'd be.

I hated that he took it out on me because he didn't want to be here.
I hated that he brought girls from our high school back to his room.
But what I hated the most was the unwanted way my body reacted to him.

At first, I thought all he had going for him were his rock-hard tattooed abs and chiseled face. But things started changing between us, and it all came to a head one night.

Then, just as quickly as he'd come into my life, he was gone back to California.

It had been years since I'd seen Elec.

When tragedy struck our family, I'd have to face him again.

And holy hell, the teenager who made me crazy was now a man that drove me insane.

I had a feeling my heart was about to get broken again.

Stepbrother Dearest is a standalone novel.

**Contains graphic sexual content and harsh language. It is only appropriate for adult readers age 18+**

My 5 star review

Stepbrother Dearest is one hell of a book. This book will shock you and some parts will even leave you with your mouth hanging wide open.

Elec is this sexy hot guy (weird to say because he was hot at 18 and I am 32…eeek!) who is totally misunderstood, in my opinion. I mean really this poor guy! He is a huge asshole to Greta his step-sister and he gives her a hard time all the time that is for sure. But that’s normal sibling type stuff, right. Except for this connection Greta feels. But one night everything changes and not long after he is gone.

Greta is this young woman who is beautiful but just can’t see it. She is a loving person who is determined to crack the wall that her step-brother, Elec, has up around him. As soon as she cracks them though he tries to put them back up and then out of the blue he is gone.

Now I will not tell you everything that happens in Part 1 because I want you to read it for yourself but I will tell you this, Part 1 ain’t got anything on Part 2! Part 2 is where it all happens. So remember in Part 1: Elec is a complete asshole to his step-sister Greta, Greta feels a connection between them, she tries to break down his walls but as soon as she busts through them, he up and leaves.

Now its seven years later and there is a horrible tragedy forcing Greta and Elec to come face to face with each other again. They have not seen or heard from each other in seven years, which was pretty much since the night before he left. While reading Part 2, I was in total shock on the turn of events and my heart broke for Elec. He is this amazing man and just can’t get a damn break. Oh and let me tell you, the ending, it will blow you away!

Stepbrother Dearest is amazing story that left me with such a good feeling that when I got up this morning I had to tell my mother about the whole book. Yes I did, I told her everything! My mother was looking at me with her eyes bugging out and her mouth hanging wide open saying things like “Say what?”, “That happened?”, and “Oh my God Cecily, really!?”After that I had to let my mother calm down just a bit. But she did add that I needed to tell Penelope Ward that she needs to make Stepbrother Dearest into a lifetime movie. And Ms. Ward I have to say that I am in 100% agreement with my mother on that one. This book is that damn good, it isn’t like most Romance books, making it be the perfect book to put on Lifetime!

My 5 star Review
Mackenzie Blanchard is this beautiful girl who has been dealt a crappy poker hand in life. All she cares about is getting through her senior year and getting far away from her horrible parents. Then she meets Hayes Morgan.
Hayes Morgan is the hottest guy at school and every girl wants him but that is not how he rolls. All he wants is to get in them panties and get out with no strings attached. He cares about no one but his family. Girlfriends are not even in his vocabulary. But when he walked into his AP English class that all changed.
Chasing the Stars was amazing. I love Mackenzie and Hayes and their story is heart-breaking and beautiful. I love the friendship that the two to them have and even more how it turned into a romance. A romance that was too short for how great it was but how can a romance last when one disappears. When Mackenzie just up and disappears it tears Hayes apart but he is determined to look everywhere for her until he finds her again. But once he finds her everything has changed. Will they be able to rekindle the love they once had? Or will the secrets they now have since Mackenzie’s disappearance rip that dream to shreds? Their lives have changed significantly, but will that bring them together or tear them apart. Pick up Chasing the Stars today and find out. You won’t regret it!
The ending of Chasing the Stars is absolutely perfect! When I finished it was all I could do was be sad. I didn’t want the story to end. I could read about Mackenzie and Hayes all day long if given the chance. Oh and the Saturday night dates, they were absolute adorable and I loved every single one of them. Super freaking cute! I think I may copy off them and do the same with Lee! Sorry Lee…But you are now officially booked for every Saturday night from here on out…Love you!
J.D. Justice you did an awesome job with this book and I am so happy that you asked me to read it. It was so amazing that I couldn’t put it down not even to talk to my fiancĂ©e on the phone when he called. I literally said, “I can’t talk I have to finish this book, I will call you later, “and hung up. While reading Chasing the Stars I wanted to do nothing but read it until I finished!

Review: Bright Side by Kim Holden

Bright Side

By Kim Holden

Everyone has one.
Some are bigger than others.
And when secrets are revealed,
Some will heal you ...
And some will end you.

Kate Sedgwick’s life has been anything but typical. She’s endured hardship and tragedy, but throughout it all she remains happy and optimistic (there’s a reason her best friend Gus calls her Bright Side). Kate is strong-willed, funny, smart, and musically gifted. She’s also never believed in love. So when Kate leaves San Diego to attend college in the small town of Grant, Minnesota, the last thing she expects is to fall in love with Keller Banks.

They both feel it.
But they each have a reason to fight it.
They each have a secret.

And when secrets are revealed,
Some will heal you …
And some will end you.
Amazon Link:

My 5 Star review

Kate is a beautiful woman with amazing hair, amazing sun kissed skin, and gorgeous eyes. She is also an amazing, strong, loving, and caring woman; though she spends most of her time taking care of everyone else when it’s her who should be taken care of. She has been through so much tragedy, seen so much pain and sorrow, that it’s a miracle she can still smile. After being a San Diego baby her whole life, Kate is now attending college in a small town in the Midwest. Grant, Minnesota is the perfect small college town but is it somewhere Kate can truly start anew?  Go on the adventure with her and see where she lands. It may just be the perfect place after all.

"I can't let the bad consume me or it would eat me whole. The bad stays in the bad corner of my mind, I don't let it through the door to mingle with good, because the bad is a goddamn party pooper."

Gus is a rock god. The way he plays and connects with his guitar is brilliant in every way imaginable. It’s as if the guitar is an extension of himself, but he isn’t just a rock god, Gus is Kate’s best-friend. They have been best-friends for years and he will do everything and anything to protect her. Bright Side, the nickname he gave Kate long ago, is his girl. With his band about to go on tour and getting ready to release their very first CD and Kate leaving for college, Gus is, in my opinion, starting to panic. Kate has always been there to help him see the bright side of things but now his Bright Side will be half way across the country. How will he be able to protect her while on tour let alone from the west coast?

Then there is Keller Banks. Man, he is one hot guy! But being so hot isn’t always easy especially when you have secrets you want to keep hidden. As far as his personal life, you will just have to stick to guessing, he not only keeps his secrets hidden but he keeps his personal life to himself as well. Keller is a lost soul who is confused and is someone who never does for himself, he really can’t afford too. But then this beautiful sexy woman, Kate, walks into Grounds, the coffee shop he works at, and it takes everything in his own power to keep everything hidden and to himself. Will Keller finally open up to someone like her? Will Kate be willing to experience something she has never believed in? Where will this tale unfold and how far can looking on the Bright Side take you?

“You give me courage I never knew I had.” – Keller
“I didn’t do anything. It was there all along, you just had to find it.” – Kate

Now that you know a bit about Kate, Gus, and Keller please remember there are other characters in this story as well who are just as loveable. I personally loved this book. Bright Side is now on my Top 5 list. This book was so amazing that it made me have to sit back and think about some things. Kate, aka Bright Side is by far my favorite character! I was able to relate to her a lot throughout the book and who she is and what she does is extremely inspiring to me.

Before I began reading Bright Side, I chose to read some of the reviews after seeing that most gave it low star ratings. Reading the reviews is very unlike me but I did it anyway and what I found was that most gave it 1 or 2 stars because of the ending.  Most of those I read where about this book not having a HEA. However, if you truly looked at the bigger picture with an open mind rather than a closed mind, you would see that this book does. It just doesn’t have the typical one most look for. I give high regards to those authors that go off the beaten path and write books that end in things other than the ‘and they lived happily ever after’ endings. It’s quite exquisite the way they bring the story to a close even though it may not be all hugs and kisses and happily ever afters.

Now with that said, you now know that Bright Side does not have one of those gushy happily ever after endings but don’t let that be the reason you don’t pick the book up. I may not be willing to tell you what happens in the end but I can and will tell you that I was a sobbing mess. Bright Side pulled at all my heart strings and I am serious when I say it is one of my TOP 5 favorite reads. This story was an incredible adventure and one I feel everyone should read to understand its true worth.

One last tidbit, while reading Bright Side, you will be in for a shock when finding out Keller and Gus’s secrets! That is all I will share.

So my beautiful readers…just read this book, don’t think about. Dive in and enjoy!

Here are my favorite quotes from this book. They may be simple but the speak wonders:

“Do epic!”

“You are brave!”

Review: Go Away Girl A Parody by Luke Young

Gone Girl Parody: Go Away Girl
Luke Young
Marriage can be a real nightmare; especially when your wife is a sociopath, who's either trying to kill you, frame you for her disappearance or maybe even both. Supported by his sister whose own behavior is inappropriate at best, a pair of lunatic detectives and in-laws with questionable motives, Rick Dunce tries to navigate the tricky waters of exactly how one should act when the woman he absolutely can't stand disappears without a trace.

If this Husband-of-the-Year is truly responsible, did he act in self-defense or did one too many bizarre quiz questions or inane treasure hunt clues finally push him over the edge? Whether Winnie is missing, dead or just hiding out, the only thing that's certain is she's so far gone that it's not even funny-- except that it is.

A parody of, Gone Girl, Gillian Flynn's acclaimed and runaway bestselling masterpiece, Go Away Girl, will leave you doubled over with laughter, gasping for breath and checking to see if your own ottoman can really balance on its side like that.

Please note that this parody was previously titled So Far Gone, Girl.

My 5 star review
I have to start off and say that I wished I would have read Gone Girl Parody: Go Away Girl first. Luke Young did an amazing job with this book! This book will have you laughing your ass off one minute and then it will have you saying… really did she just really say that to him…
Now yes I did read the you know what book by you know who…But I am sorry well not really sorry but I will say that this book is a million times better than the other…Can I say that? I am not sure but what can I say this is my review so I will be honest.

Rick Dunce is my favorite character is this book. I mean yes he is a little off on some things and I did worry about him and his sister there for a minute or two but then he totally redeemd himself in my book. Call me silly, weird, crazy and maybe even a nerd but my favorite part is when we wore a I pooped today shirt…Freaking hilarious… Don’t look at me like that, read this book and then you will understand what I am talking about. I promise!
Winnie is one crazy ass woman. I did still like her though, you know she is one of those character that you hate but then you secretly like her…Yup that is Winnie. She is smart and has or shall I say had a nice ass (lee that part was for you.. your welcome) but she was still a *itch.
I will be honest and tell you that I really hope that this book becomes a movie! Because if it does I am totally going to go see it!
Luke Young you did an amazing job with this book and I wish I would have read this first. Congratulations on such a fabulous, hilarious book and giving me an ending that I wanted and needing!

Release Day: Rowdy by Jay Crownover

The New York Times and USA Today bestselling Marked Men series continues with this sizzling, sexy story of love, heartbreak, fate, and second chances.
After the only girl he ever loved told him that he would never be enough, Rowdy St. James knocked the Texas dust off his boots and set out to live up to his nickname. A good ol’ boy looking for good times and good friends, Rowdy refuses to take anything too seriously, especially when it comes to the opposite sex. Burned by love once, he isn’t going to let himself trust a woman again. But that’s before his new co-worker arrives, a ghost from the past who’s suddenly making him question every lesson he ever learned.
Salem Cruz grew up in house with too many rules and too little fun—a world of unhappiness she couldn’t wait to forget. But one nice thing from childhood has stayed with her; the memory of the sweet, blue-eyed boy next door who’d been head over heels in love with her little sister.
Now, fate and an old friend have brought her and Rowdy together, and Salem is determined to show him that once upon a time he picked the wrong sister. A mission that is working perfectly—until the one person that ties them together appears, threatening to tear them apart for good.
WHEN I PUT THE key he had given me in the door to his apartment it felt like the end of a long journey. Really it was only a little over twelve hours and I had stopped to nap once along the way, but it still felt like too long since I had seen his face or been able to touch all that toned and tattooed skin. Jimbo greeted me at the door when I pushed it open. His tongue lolled out of his mouth and he jumped up and put his paws on my legs. He was going to be huge when he finally grew into his fuzzy body and I was overwhelmed at how happy I was to see him. I dropped to my knees and rubbed my face in his neck as he licked me all over my face. I was obviously missed and I had to say it was just one more reason I knew I was finally where I was supposed to be. It was late, so the apartment was dark.
I checked the dog’s food and water, trying to be quiet in case Rowdy was already asleep. I was winding my way toward his bedroom when a haphazardly discarded sketch pad lying on the couch caught my eye in the dim light. I paused for a minute to pick it up and felt my heart stop and then start to race as I flipped through the first few pages. There were a couple of drawings that were obviously for clients, tattoos that hadn’t made it from paper to skin yet, but most of the pristine white pages were covered with images wearing my face. There was mermaid me, and naughty- sailor- girl me. There was sassy Indian girl me with long Pocahontas braids and there was sexy devil me standing next to angelic me. There were dozens of them all in different shapes and sizes, but every single image was undoubtedly modeled after my distinct look. I wasn’t sure if he had drawn them all over this last week while I had been gone or over the months we had been chasing each other in circles.
Either way it made my heart swell and the full certainty that I was it for him settle deep inside my bones. I set the pad down and tiptoed through the hall. Jimbo took one look at where I was going and huffed out a disgusted- sounding snort. The poor guy had learned early on that he wanted no part of what happened between his humans when they were together in the bedroom. The light was off and Rowdy was sprawled on his stomach across the covers. His blond hair was sticking up every- where and he hand one arm bent up under his head. The only thing that could have made the sight better would have been if he hadn’t bothered with the black boxers before crashing out.
Even with them obscuring the view, I couldn’t complain. I let out a breathless sigh and crept closer so that I could lean over and touch my lips to that anchor on the side of his neck. I felt his pulse leap and tasted the salt on his skin as he murmured sleepily and rolled over onto his back. Those infinitely blue eyes glowed at me in the dark as a grin pulled up the corner of his mouth.

And don’t miss the previous books in The Marked Men Series!
