Readers Week with Mark McDonald Jr (Reader)

Mark McDonald Jr. is such a sweet handsome young man. He is the love of my life and loves to read books like his mother. So being the awesome kid that he his, he is going to share his favorite book with us. I hope you enjoy!

My name is Mark Anthony McDonald Jr. I like to do a lot of things, like playing with my army toys, basketball, football, baseball, and reading like my mom. I am Autistic, so sometimes it is hard for me to do things. Reading is kind of hard for me, because I am a slow reader and sometimes I can't tell my mom what I just read in the book. BUT I tell her in my own words. I also can't seem to finish a book, cause I ask my mom to buy me another one before I can even finish the book I am reading at that second.  I am also a huge fan of Michael Jackson and I have a crush on Lorde and Taylor Swift

So here are my 2 favorite books. I hope you or someone else can enjoys these stories as much as I do. Thank you ladies and gentlemen.

The Forth Stall by Chris Rylander
I like this book because it talks about middle and it is giving me examples of how my life will be next years in middle school. This book is so cool and I like the cover because it has toilet paper on the cover.

Middle School by James Patterson
I like this book because it also helps me prepare for middle school. The main character pictures his teachers as grumpy little dragons or snakes, and it has comic drawings in the book. It is so cool!

This is the last day of Readers Week. I just want to say thank you to everyone who was so sweet to share their favorite books and whys.

I wanted to end Readers Week with a very special person. So I hope you enjoy his post. I still think it is cool that kids still read with all this other technology out here these days.

Again thank you and enjoy!!!!

Readers Week with Logan Patricks (Author)

Logan Patricks is simply amazing. His writing is genius and I am in love with his writing. His book Semblance(the Midnight Society) is one of my favorite books and don't get me started on the Last Sin of Snow White. I could go on and on about why he is such an amazing writer. But I won't because this isn't about me. :)

Logan Patricks was nice enough to share one of his favorite book with us. Once he told me what it was, naturally I have to get the book and start it right away and I am so glad that I did. This book with defiantly touch your heart and soul.

Hmm...That's a tough one. I have several favorite books. Latest one I really enjoyed is the Book Thief by Markus Zusak.

The book is pure poetry, and if you don't shed a tear during this tale about the holocaust, your soul is made of stone

About the book:

It is 1939. Nazi Germany. The country is holding its breath. Death has never been busier, and will become busier still.

Liesel Meminger is a foster girl living outside of Munich, who scratches out a meager existence for herself by stealing when she encounters something she can’t resist–books. With the help of her accordion-playing foster father, she learns to read and shares her stolen books with her neighbors during bombing raids as well as with the Jewish man hidden in her basement.

Thank you Logan Patricks very much for sharing one of your favorite books with us. I am very thankful because this book is very touching and I have cried so many times.
(and I am not even finished yet)

Readers Week with Rebecca Sherwin (Author)

Rebecca Sherwin is a very lovely and talented writer! She wrote Second Chance Hero which I absoulty adore. It is such an amazing story.

Rebecca Sherwin was so very sweet to share her favorite book and why for us and I butterflying love her why!!!

Oh my god. My favorite book just smacked me in the face. And not because it's my favorite of all time, but because I remember why I liked it. It was Lord of The Flies by William Golding. I read it when I was a kid and it's the story that got me interested in human behavior. I had to pull it apart and analyse it and it got me hooked on doing the same thing with the human mind and social behaviors. It's why I went to college to study the social sciences.

A geeky reason I know, but I didn't want to suggest a boy meets girl romance because whilst they're my reading material of choice, they don't impact my life. Finding a man who's just stepped out of one is the only impact I need ;)

Thank you Rebecca Sherwin so much for sharing your favorite book and your why with us !!!!

Readers with L. Maretta (Author)

L. Maretta is a very awesome, lovely, and amazing writer. Her books Whatever it Takes and Falling from Disgrace are crazy good! I hope one day I can actually meet, but I am still totally fine with her being my adopted Twitter mommy. LOL Yes.....she already knows cause I told her to adopt me :) I also love that she is a Shoe Queen and Music Lover!!!

L. Maretta was so sweet to share her favorite book and why she loves it so very much. So just an FYI I totally added it to my TBR list!!!!!

Asking me to pick a favorite book, or even an author for that matter, is like asking a mother to choose her favorite child; it just can’t be done.  I’ve read thousands of books in my lifetime and I cannot say that only one stands out as my beloved.  My list of favorites is long and eclectic and so, like the rebel I am, I am going to stray from Ms. Bonney’s assignment and share a book I had the pleasure of reading recently rather than trying to come up with my number one.

Dark as Night, by Mark T. Conard, is a gem of a novel.   I met Mark through Twitter and came to know a little about a witty and clearly intelligent man.  As an indie author myself, I always like to support my comrades and so I gave his book a try.  I was so glad that I did.
Dark as Night is a story that centers around several characters, all of whom are connected by one thread: the Philly mob.  A botched burglary, a failed suicide attempt, an assault on a young girl, a crooked cop, a sordid affair between coworkers, and a wanna-be gangster all come together in this tale of segmented stories. These stories, however, mesh together in the conclusion and leave you breathless.

What I loved most about this novel were the characters.  As a writer, I know the difficulty in developing them three-dimensionally through words and the fact that Conard did it so well is a testament to his talent.  Many play a part in his story but you get to know each and every one of them so that by a third of the way in you’ll be thinking, “What a typical Lenny thing to say.”

The story is fast-paced, gritty, descriptive, dark, sometimes funny, and always entertaining.  I am so glad I not only made a new friend in Mark, but also found a new author to add to my list of faves.

Readers Week with SydneyJamesson (author)

Sydney Jamesson is an amazing author! She has written two of my favorite books Touchstone for Play and Touchstone for Giving! Let's just say Ayden Stone has knocked down a few of my book-boyfriends.

Sydney Jamesson was so kind to let us know what her favorite book is. I have read some of this book and it is now on my TBR list :)

My Favorite book is The Siren by Tiffany Reisz. I read it on holiday in the South of France and sat sobbing when I finished it. I had to go for a swim to wash away my tears. :( I love Nora Sutherlin. What a wonderfully drawn character.

Thank you so very much Sydney for sharing your favorite book :)

If you have yet to read any of these (where have you been?!) or just a small amount, please, please get to reading them all (I'm not suppose to be begging you) because all of these are special and deserve your utmost attention and time.

So without further ado, here are my favorite books!

1. Poughkeepsie – Debra Anatasia
I cant tell you how much i loved this book. I could not put it down. It’s about Blake – a homeless man and Olivia – the girl who smiles every morning at Blake. We also meet Blake’s brothers and Oliva’s sister and their stories entwine within Blake and Olivia’s. This book has a little bit of everything wrapped into it. It has romance, banter, murders, kidnapping, jealousy, revenge, love, steamy moments, friendship, bonds, midnight mass but most of it, it’s about finding love and protecting those you love. It truly is a beautiful book to read and you would be mad not to give it a read.
    2. Losing Hope – Colleen Hoover17340050
As much as I LOVED Hopeless (and it was going to be on this list) I had to pick Losing Hope instead. Holder just stole my heart even more in this book. We find out his back story, his pain from losing Hope and Les. It’s his story on how he learned to love, how he learned to breath again and live, with the help of Sky and the help of his sister Les. We find out so much that it’s a punch in the stomach. It is an emotional read, but we see Holder forgive himself and know that now he has Sky, he is never going to let her go.
17700010  3.  Falling into Us – Jasinda Wilder
I loved Falling into You, but Falling into Us stole my heart so much more. It;s the story of Nell’s BFF Becca and Jason – the guy who liked Nell. I love reading about high school sweethearts and my god, Becca and Jason go through so much in this book. You watch Becca and Jason grow from insecure teenagers to confident adults, who know exactly what to do, what to say, how to love and how to help each other. You watch them talk things through, complement one another and talk about their future, always including the other. Their relationship and their bond is so strong, nothing can part them. Both go through painful scenarios that will have you sobbing, but the end, god the ending is perfect and despite all the tribulations, you can see just how strong their love is for one another.
17617277 4.  Real – Katy Evans
I loveeee Real so hard. God, Remy….he stole my heart. He is such a Alpha male yet hes got a soft centre. He is a quiet guy, speaking his feelings through song lyrics to Brooke and each song is important to him…it speaks what he cant say. Never knowing love, he is falling for Brooke, but he wants to know she can handle him, handle him when he goes black. He knows he cant let her go and it will kill him if she walks away. We see him protect Brooke, be attentive to her but most of all he is REAL. He wants Brooke to see the real him, not Riptide, but Remy. Remy has found the one he wants forever and you can truly see just how much he loves Brooke.
Attractive young woman   5. Bitter Angel – Megan Hand
This book isnt one that i would normally read, its so different from the NA ones i read. It made me sick to my stomach, made me shake, cry, pulled at my heartstrings but by god, i loved it so much. Lila has two separate dreams, both seem as real as real life and it scares the crap out of her. But she knows it’s got to be real, at least one of them. We see her delve to discover the shocking reality of something so sick that actually happens in today’s society. We see her try to save other people from going through what she went through in her ‘dream’ and you are on tenterhooks throughout the whole book, wondering what is going to happen and what the hell Lila is doing to do. It was out of my comfort zone, but i was so glad i read it!
16140408  6. Down London Road – Samantha Young
I absolutely loved Jo and Cam. They don’t start off on the best of feet but we watch them grow as friends, as lovers and we see Cam find out about Jo’s family situation, how much he wants to help out, how much he loves Jo and her brother Cole and we see him be there for her throughout her struggles. Although there are misunderstanding, we see Cam peel away Jo insecurities, her fears and he understands why she doesn’t want any help, how strong she is for dealing with the crap thrown at her and it makes him love and protect her even more. We watch Jo grow from this woman who doesnt want help, who doesnt open up to a woman who blossoms, who finds love, who has this person to lean on when times get tough and it was beautiful to watch her grow, and it grafts her into the person we love in Down London Road.
17333880  7. Twisted Perfection – Abbi Glines
I love Woods….plain and simple. Twisted Perfection really is different from the Too Far series. It delves deeper into emotional and mental issues, darker pasts and fears. You watch two people who are seemingly lost, find one another, help one another and find love together. They find their purpose in their life. It doesnt hurt that Woods has a dirty mouth and knows exactly what to do with his words ;)

172285198. Everything for Us – M. Leighton
I love this series but there was just something about Everything for Us that stole my heart.I fell for Nash hard in this book. He is a strong character, having to grow up pretty damn fast. He’s seen and done things he’s had no choice in and that has made him rid of any emotional attachments to anyone or anything. He’s numb and all he feels is anger. Anger for the people who killed his mother and fucked up his life. He wants revenge. But enter Marrissa and although he starts as sex, Nash is slowly dropping his armour, we see him falter, see him begin to care. I loved watching them both fall for each other, despite neither telling the other until it was too late. They both pushed each other; Nash made Marrissa stronger and Marrissa showed Nash, really, how to care, how to love and how to live again. Nash and Marrissa are amazing.
 Tucker_One Tiny Lie cover 9. One Tiny Lie – K. A Tucker
One Tiny Lie is about breathing again, freedom, finding who you truly are and being okay with that, with the changes in your life and falling in love and being loved back. Livie and Ashton complete each other. They show each other how to love and how to live and how to free themselves from everything holding them back. They both stole a piece of my heart and although it took a while for them both to truly be together, they both pushed, both had to figure out their own lives before they could really be together and that;s okay. That is what made them them. It hurt, there were tears from me, my heart ached for them both but in the end, the end is what saw them be real and open up and Livie and Ashton were truly meant to be.
18332469  10. The Time Until – Casey Ford
I had the pleasure of Beta reading this book and can i say, SHIT i cried my bloody eyes out throughout the whole book. Then when i re-read and Beta’ed it a second time, the tears were still there. As a debut, it has such an emotional impact on me that it was all i could think about for days after. It’s a beautiful book about childhood friend, love, the journey both Sam and Alan have made from their 5 year old selfs to now, at 20 years old….but its also a goddamn emotional book, from Alan praying to the gods that he wont lose Sam and he revisits the first time they met, to now, to the present, to the accident and how in gods name he will live if he loses Sam. You will need so many tissues to get through this book, but it is so worth every tear you shed.
18593366   11. Asking For Trouble – Tessa Bailey
I LOVE TESSA! Just putting that out there. Her Line of Duty series is one of my favourites and Asking For Trouble is book 4. I’m so sorry Daniel, but Brent just pipped you at the post for this spot.  Asking For Trouble is about Brent, Daniels best mate and Hayden, Story’s BFF (Daniel and Story are in Officer Off Limits). They both dislike each other but one game leads to everything changing between them. Both have led different lives but together, they seem to bring out the best in one another and the hate is starting to blur into love but with a secret Hayden is habouring, will Brent stop her making the biggest mistake of her life? Asking For Trouble is about journey for both characters, from hating each other to wanting each other to falling in love, with obstacles along the way, until they can finally sort through the crap and be together at the end. It also helps that THE SEX IS FREAKING HOT!!!
   12. April Showers – Karli Perrin???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
I can’t have a list without my twinnie’s book (Buy April Fools too!)! I absolutely love this series but as someone who got inside things into this book (no, she didnt tell me about you-know-what) but i did get Isaac before everyone and a bit of Lukas too, which is why i hold this book close to my heart too, because Karli is the first author to actually send me teasers to her book. April Showers is focused around uni and boys and awesome friends and banter and sarcasm and heartache and i think we can all associate with that. You become invested in April, Isaac and Lukas’ lives and want to see who April is going to pick!! ISAAC IS MY BOYFRIEND! so everyone needs to back off.

18271314   13.  The Art of Letting Go – Anna Bloom
Scrap the fact i know Anna, The Art of Letting Go is a book that deserves a place on your kindle. Lilah is 25 and unhappy. So much so she quits her job and signs up to uni. There is meets a gorgeous guy name Ben who has been looking for her for 9 months after a brief encounter. She cant remember him but this starts the beginning of everything. Set in diary entries, we delve into the life of Lilah and her friends. It’s a great British debut (There are 2 novellas out and another 2 years of the series left); it has sarcasm, British humour, you will cry, laugh, get annoyed but most of all, this book is realistic and you will not want to put it down once you start. Also Ben <3 DEAR GOD I LOVE HIM SO MUCH.
IM SORRY BUT I CANT JUST HAVE 13…i know, i know, i made you all pick 13, but i cant leave this book out at all! PFFT i’m allowed to add in an extra! ;) It was my rules hahaha.

14. Five Exotic Fantasies – Serenity Woods18356975
Along with Tessa, you should know how much I love Serenity Woods and her Love in Reverse series. When i read the third book in the series – Five Exotic Fantasies, i was hooked. Both Coco and Felix took my heart, especially Felix. He is the epitome of sexy and suave rolled into one, but also he is a sweetheart, he is cute and caring and does whatever he can to make Coco smile, to see her happy, and make her own her body, make her see that her fantasies arent weird, they are normal. Everything he does with the fantasies, he thinks hard about how to make a lasting impression of them. He is a alpha yet hes not. He has the dirty words, knows what to do with them, yet he is sensual, he likes the cuddles and hand holding and he stole my heart.

Thank you very much Zoe for gives up your top books :)

Interview with L. Duarte (Chasing Stars and To Catch a Falling Star)

I just want to say how amazing that it is for me to be able to do an interview with L. Duarte. She is an amazing writer and if and when you read her books you will 100% agree with me. L. Duarte blew my mind when she wrote Chasing Stars. I have never read a book like this one. Then she did it again to me in To Catch a Falling Star. WOW!!!!! I hope you enjoy this interview as much as I did.

1. What is your goal for 2014?

Well, I want to be able to balance my life a little better. I have an OCDish personality. I tend to obsess over a project and often neglect other areas. I want to learn to juggle all these balls without dropping any of it.

2. What is your next project?

Oh, wow. I was certain f my path as a writer. Chasing Stars came to me followed by To Catch a Falling Star and Fading Stars (the story of Nillie and Lucas). However, before I had the chance to put Fading Stars on paper, other characters took residence in my mind I tried convincing these characters to wait, but they won't. They keep me up at night. So I might have to put Fading Stars on the back burner.

3. What do you do when you are not writing?

I do some really exciting stuff as tackling laundry, cleaning, and cooking. Plus I do my day job to pay my bills. And of course, I do my very favorite which is being a mom.

4. How did you come up with Will and Portia's story?

Portia came to me one day. She was wild, broken, but full of life. Then, came Will and I noticed he was just what she needed. The chemistry between them was instant, but boy were they different. In all honestly, I kind of followed their lead and observed where their path would take them. Each of them surprised me a few times. Portia with her erratic behavior and Will with the secrets from his past.

5. Out of Chasing Stars and To Catch a Falling Star, which character has your heart?

It's hard to respond to this question. It's like choosing a favorite child. All this characters have my heart equally. However, I have great admiration to Dan. Parents are often portrayed as the villains (including in my own stories), so I was  pleasantly surprised to see a parent that is not the bad guy. Dan is honest, smart, wise, caring, and a supportive father.

6. How nervous were you when these two books went live and what was going through your mind?
(cause your books are not like most)

Other than have my stomach in knots and insomnia, I was fine. LOL. You never know how readers will receive a book. Awe, disappointment, indifference? My books are hard for marketing. They most definitely belong to the romance genre. However, on one hand, I address God and spiritually and on the other, I pen some very descriptive sex. One aspect or the other bothers some people. I put some thought into it. Marketing is a bitch. At the end I decided to go with what I wanted to write, the way that satisfied me as a writer and as a reader. Surprisingly it is being well received. And that's one of the beauties of being a write.

7. What is your favorite book?

Can I pick one? Bible, Twilight Saga, Les Miserables, The fault in our stars, Wuthering Heights, The Tale of Two Cites...

8. Who is your favorite author?

Victor Hugo and Charles Dickens.

9. What do you see your self doing five years from now?

Writing. There is nothing else I rather do.

10. What is your favorite quote and why?

"There are only two ways to live your life. One is as thought nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle." By Albert Einstein.

Our very own breath is a miracle. However, during our existence we take so many breaths that we no longer recognize the wonder within each individual breath. The fact that I am alive is a miracle, and I try never to take it for granted. This quote summons the way I want to live my life. And I work every day toward honoring this principle.

About the author

I have found that there is only one thing better than reading, and that is writing. I am always torn between the two. I am also frequently torn between chocolate and coffee. However, I emphatically do not like the month of February, lies, and flies. For me, bravery is defined by the courage to do what we fear the most. This conviction is reflected in my debut work of romantic fiction, Chasing Stars. I live in Connecticut with my husband and two children.

Review for Rome (The Marked Men Series) by Jay Crownover

5 Stars

Sometimes the wrong choice can be just right . . .
Fun and fearless, Cora Lewis knows how to keep her tattooed "bad boy" friends at the Marked in line. But beneath all that flash and sass is a broken heart. Cora won't let herself get burned again. She's waiting to fall in love with the perfect man—a baggage-free, drama-free guy ready for commitment. Then she meets Rome Archer.

Rome Archer is as far from perfect as a man can be. He's stubborn, rigid, and bossy. And he's returned from his final tour of duty more than a little broken. Rome's used to filling many roles: big brother, doting son, supersoldier—but none of those fit anymore. Now he's just a man trying to figure out what to do with the rest of his life while keeping the dark demons of war and loss at bay. He would have been glad to suffer through it alone, until Cora comes sweeping into his life and becomes a blinding flash of color in a sea of gray. Perfect may not be in the cards, but perfectly imperfect could just last forever . . .

Jay Crownover damn you are killing me in such a good way! The Marked Men Series are freaking crazy smoking HOT. I enjoyed Rule and Jet's story for sure. BUT holy moly cheese and rice Rome is by far my favorite.

My Review:

Rome is a hero, he has fought for his country and he has fought for his brothers Rule and Remy. So many things have happened and so many secrets have been revealed. He has so much grief in his heart and he is unsure on how he can be the man he once was.

Cora is a spitfire woman. She is tiny but she can hold her own. She has been through her fair share of heart ache, but she is all about putting the broken people she loves back together.

I went through a lot of emotions while reading this book. I even that I was going to have a heart attack at one point. Then I wanted to whoop some booty, then I also found myself laughing my booty off too. I totally feel hard for Rome and I know you will too.

Can two people that are total opposites truly be happy? Can we really save someone's soul from going completely dark? Can we be someone color in their gray world?

This story is so awesome to me. It is crazy because I see myself in Cora, the whole no filter thing and wanting to save everyone she possibly can. Whether they want saving or not! I also see my other half in Rome, it is kind of nerve wreaking in a crazy awesome way. Rome and Cora are simply a rock hard imperfectly perfect book couple, in my book!!

Right after finishing this story a new friend on Twitter  @rohanbaby said " Book lovers aren't sad. Open a book and you dive into another world. How great is that?" I couldn't of said that any better and when you start this series you will totally get wrapped up in their worlds.

Lastly!!!!! I freaking love Rome's and Cora's Playlist! Please totally listen to Deer Tick by Twenty Miles before reading this story!! My favorite is Free Fallin by Tom Petty on Rome's Playlist.

I am so looking forward to the next book in The Marked Men Series.....Nash!! While reading Rule, Jet, and Rome you will get to see a piece of Nash. Enjoy!!!!!

About the Author:

I’m a native Coloradoan and if you live here you know why that is a source of pride.  I love all the things Colorado has to offer and that is why I choose to set my books in this familiar setting.  I try to write about things I know and am familiar with which is why my stories feature plenty of rock and roll and body modification.

I’ve been in the bar industry since I was in college and I spend over forty hours a week watching the interaction between men and women in a unique way.  I think my 9 to 5 job offers me valuable insights into how relationships start and evolve in a social setting.  I love it.

I like to write New Adult novels because I remember being in my early twenties and thinking I had it all figured out only to be proven wrong time and time again.  When I look back those were the years that defined who I am today, and good or bad those decisions untimely set me on my current path, so that’s what I like to explore in my writing.
