Review for Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine by Gail Honeyman

Meet Eleanor Oliphant: She struggles with appropriate social skills and tends to say exactly what she’s thinking. Nothing is missing in her carefully timetabled life of avoiding social interactions, where weekends are punctuated by frozen pizza, vodka, and phone chats with Mummy.   But everything changes when Eleanor meets Raymond, the bumbling and deeply unhygienic IT guy from her office. When she and Raymond together save Sammy, an elderly gentleman who has fallen on the sidewalk, the three become the kinds of friends who rescue one another from the lives of isolation they have each been living. And it is Raymond’s big heart that will ultimately help Eleanor find the way to repair her own profoundly damaged one.  Soon to be a major motion picture produced by Reese Witherspoon,  Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine is the smart, warm, and uplifting story of an out-of-the-ordinary heroine whose deadpan weirdness and unconscious wit make for an irresistible journey as she realizes. . .     The only way to survive is to open your heart.

My 4 star review

This book broke my heart. I have no idea how and why a mother would be so cruel to their child.

Eleanor is not like your average thirty year old woman. Hell she is better than average. She is her own person and she doesn't care what other people think about her.

I can honestly say that I adore Eleanor. She has been through so much and yet she is still standing semi strong.

Raymond is Eleanor's co worker and they end up being really good friends. He helped her with something huge! One could even say that he saved her.

I really thought that the ending would be different and I totally wanted to girl to get the guy or the guy get the girl...

But this ending was perfection! Because at the end of this book Eleanor became a completely different stronger version of herself. And let's face it that is a million times better than the girl getting to guy or the guy getting the girl!

While reading this book Maroon 5 She will be loved kept playing over and over again in my mind.

Enjoy Bookies

Review for One Day in December by Josie Silver

Laurie is pretty sure love at first sight doesn't exist anywhere but the movies. But then, through a misted-up bus window one snowy December day, she sees a man who she knows instantly is the one. Their eyes meet, there's a moment of pure magic...and then her bus drives away. Certain they're fated to find each other again, Laurie spends a year scanning every bus stop and cafe in London for him. But she doesn't find him, not when it matters anyway. Instead they "reunite" at a Christmas party, when her best friend Sarah giddily introduces her new boyfriend to Laurie. It's Jack, the man from the bus. It would be. What follows for Laurie, Sarah and Jack is ten years of friendship, heartbreak, missed opportunities, roads not taken, and destinies reconsidered. One Day in December is a joyous, heartwarming and immensely moving love story to escape into and a reminder that fate takes inexplicable turns along the route to happiness.

My 4 star review:

First off thank you Instagram! If I wasn't for the countless people on there posting this book I would of never known about it. So naturally I ran to the bookstore and grabbed me a copy.

I feel in love after the first chapter. I mean love at first sight! When Laurie and the guy at the bus stops eyes locked my heart sank! I felt the butterflies too! I got goosebumps. Goosebumps people!!!

I had no idea that she would put her love life on hold for so long just to try and find that one guy! Like that is sweet, romantic, and crazy all at the same time.

Then... BOOM!!

Her best friend meet this guy named Jack at her work and now he is her boyfriend. Eeeek!!!

Now there is a lot going on here. You got relationships, break ups, marriages, and a divorce. This book will definitely give you the feels and I will definitely make you think....

What if?!

Go and grab this book, I promise you will love this book!!

The song playing over and over in my head while reading this book was Love Song by 311. Happy reading book nerds ;)

Review for The Hating Game by Sally Thorne

Nemesis (n.) 1) An opponent or rival whom a person cannot best or overcome.
                       2) A person’s undoing
                       3) Joshua Templeman

Lucy Hutton and Joshua Templeman hate each other. Not dislike. Not begrudgingly tolerate. Hate. And they have no problem displaying their feelings through a series of ritualistic passive aggressive maneuvers as they sit across from each other, executive assistants to co-CEOs of a publishing company. Lucy can’t understand Joshua’s joyless, uptight, meticulous approach to his job. Joshua is clearly baffled by Lucy’s overly bright clothes, quirkiness, and Pollyanna attitude.
Now up for the same promotion, their battle of wills has come to a head and Lucy refuses to back down when their latest game could cost her her dream job…But the tension between Lucy and Joshua has also reached its boiling point, and Lucy is discovering that maybe she doesn’t hate Joshua. And maybe, he doesn’t hate her either. Or maybe this is just another game.

Review for Then She Was Gone by Lisa Jewell

Ellie Mack was the perfect daughter. She was fifteen, the youngest of three. She was beloved by her parents, friends, and teachers. She and her boyfriend made a teenaged golden couple. She was days away from an idyllic post-exams summer vacation, with her whole life ahead of her.

And then she was gone.

Now, her mother Laurel Mack is trying to put her life back together. It’s been ten years since her daughter disappeared, seven years since her marriage ended, and only months since the last clue in Ellie’s case was unearthed. So when she meets an unexpectedly charming man in a cafĂ©, no one is more surprised than Laurel at how quickly their flirtation develops into something deeper. Before she knows it, she’s meeting Floyd’s daughters—and his youngest, Poppy, takes Laurel’s breath away.

Because looking at Poppy is like looking at Ellie. And now, the unanswered questions she’s tried so hard to put to rest begin to haunt Laurel anew. Where did Ellie go? Did she really run away from home, as the police have long suspected, or was there a more sinister reason for her disappearance? Who is Floyd, really? And why does his daughter remind Laurel so viscerally of her own missing girl?

My 4 star review:

This book is the perfect example of the rare ugliness that is in our world.

Elle goes to school and then never comes home.

The question is where is she?

Did she run away?

Is she ever coming back?

Then years later the police stumble across Elle's book bag and it was filled with her things from years ago.

Then the police find human remains.

Then her parents house get broken into and odd items are stolen.

Did Elle come home and steal random items? or Was this just a random break in?

What happens in this read will blow your mind. This book will have you wanting to stalk your children everywhere they go.

I absolutely recommend this read. It is so good!

Review for How It Ends by Catherine Lo

There are two sides to every story. It’s friends-at-first-sight for Jessie and Annie, proving the old adage that opposites attract. Shy, anxious Jessie would give anything to have Annie’s beauty and confidence. And Annie thinks Jessie has the perfect life, with her close-knit family and killer grades. They're BFFs…until suddenly they're not. Told through alternating points of view, How It Ends is a wildly fast but deeply moving read about a friendship in crisis. Set against a tumultuous sophomore year of bullying, boys and backstabbing, the novel shows what can happen when friends choose assumptions and fear over each other.

My 4 stars review

This book has been on my TBD list for a while now.

When I started this book I was not really sure how it was going to be. I mean two friend who get into a fight but no that was not this book at all.

You have Annie who is unhappy with her current situation. Her mother passed away and now her stepmother is very rude and mean to her.

Then you have Jess who suffers from Anxiety and depression but in the same breathe her mother is enabling her....in my opinion.

This book is about friendship and the struggles that people go through and the lessons they learn.

These two characters had to learn life lessons. One of them made a huge decision that will impact her life until the day she dies. The other learned to love herself and be free...and to stop worrying about what other people think.

I truly enjoyed this book and I totally recommend it.

Happy reading

Review for Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter

#1 internationally bestselling author Karin Slaughter returns with a sophisticated and chilling psychological thriller of dangerous secrets, cold vengeance, and unexpected absolution, in which two estranged sisters must come together to find truth about two harrowing tragedies, twenty years apart, that devastate their lives. Sisters. Strangers. Survivors. More than twenty years ago, Claire and Lydia's teenaged sister Julia vanished without a trace. The two women have not spoken since, and now their lives could not be more different. Claire is the glamorous trophy wife of an Atlanta millionaire. Lydia, a single mother, dates an ex-con and struggles to make ends meet. But neither has recovered from the horror and heartbreak of their shared loss—a devastating wound that's cruelly ripped open when Claire's husband is killed. The disappearance of a teenage girl and the murder of a middle-aged man, almost a quarter-century apart: what could connect them? Forming a wary truce, the surviving sisters look to the past to find the truth, unearthing the secrets that destroyed their family all those years ago . . . and uncovering the possibility of redemption, and revenge, where they least expect it. Powerful, poignant, and utterly gripping, packed with indelible characters and unforgettable twists, Pretty Girls is a masterful thriller from one of the finest suspense writers working today.

My 5 star review

This is my first read from Karin Slaughter and it definitely will not be my last. I am completely at a loss for words and let's be honest that is rare for me.

All of those poor innocent girls. All of their families. The wondering and the hoping that they will eventually come home.

I had chills during this entire read and I was creeped out. I didnt even want to walk to my car at night, this book had me so scared.

I am sitting here trying to figure out how in the heck Karin Slaughter could come up with a story like this.

This read was unbelievable and I highly recommend this book!

Review for Sister Sister by Sue Fortin

From the bestselling author of The Girl Who Lied

Alice: Beautiful, kind, manipulative, liar.

Clare: Intelligent, loyal, paranoid, jealous.

Clare thinks Alice is a manipulative liar who is trying to steal her life.

Alice thinks Clare is jealous of her long-lost return and place in their family.

One of them is telling the truth. The other is a maniac. Two sisters. One truth.

My 5 star review

Holy mother of pearl! This book was delightfully scary and had me on the edge of my seat the entire time.

I had no idea what was going to happen and then when I thought I knew...I was totally wrong.

Clare and her Mum have been so upset ever since her sister and father disappeared years ago. They never stopped trying to find her.

Luke is Clares husband and I really liked him at the beginning. I mean he seemed like a sweet caring husband, till they found Alice.

Who is Alice you ask? Well Alice is Clare's sister that left years ago.

Now keep in mind there is one twisted plot that I never saw coming and let me tell you that it us so good! So good!

I cant say anymore because if I do, I will completely ruin it for you. I would hte to do that but I will say that I am now a fan of Thrillers!

P.s. the song that played in my head was Little Talks by Mice of Man

Review for The Perfect Nanny by Leila Slimani

When Myriam decides to return to work as a lawyer after having children, she and her husband look for the perfect nanny for their son and daughter. They never dreamed they would find Louise: a quiet, polite, devoted woman who sings to the children, cleans the family’s chic Paris apartment, stays late without complaint, and hosts enviable kiddie parties. But as the couple and the nanny become more dependent on one another, jealousy, resentment, and suspicions mount, shattering the idyllic tableau. Building tension with every page,  The Perfect Nanny is a compulsive, riveting, bravely observed exploration of power, class, race, domesticity, motherhood, and madness—and the American debut of an immensely talented writer.

My 4 star review

The first page gave me the chills and all I could of was the movie hand that rocks the cradle.

This read was good.
This read made me mad.
This read creeped me out.
This read made me never want anyone to watch my children...EVER.

The parents of these two children made me so angry. I mean why even have kids if you have a nanny who watches them all the time. And you even have the nanny go on vacation with you.

I felt like these parents cared more about their career then their own children.

But overall this book creeped me the F out.

The ending was not what I expected and it is one of those endings where your mind has to do it's best to end it.

Audiobook review for Tripping on a Halo by Alessandra Torre

It’s really hard to save a guy’s life when he keeps running from you.

You might be asking yourself why I’m waving an inflatable penis in the air and screaming at the top of my lungs. If I took time to explain, Declan Moss would get hit by a bus.

Let me back up. I didn’t ask for this. I was perfectly happy—and perfectly sane—before I was tasked with keeping Declan Moss alive. It was a thankless job until the moment that my panties dropped and his delicious smirk found his way in between my thighs.

Hello, toe-curling ecstasy. Goodbye, professional boundaries. And suddenly, there’s a new danger to avoid: the falling of my heart.

My 5 star review

This book was cracking me up! I was listening to it at work and all of a sudden "what out purple people water" comes out of my earphones. I am dying laughing because that purple people eater is a giant purple penis!!!!

Omg this book was so good.

Then chapter 35 hurt my heart! I pulled my earphones out and said WTF! My co-worker looked at me like I was insane.

The characters in this story are so easy to love and they all will have you laughing.

This is definitely a feel good book that is totally a feel good read!

Loved it!!!!!!

While listening to this book all I could think of was Maroon 5 girls like you

Cover Reveal for The Hookup handbook by Kendall Ryan

Release Date: April 9th
Cover Designer: Uplifting Designs
Photography By: Beth Studenberg
ABOUT THE BOOK

My love wand is on a strike.

As bad as that blows, pun unintended, it’s ten times worse for me. I’m a male escort, but not just any escort, I’m the escort. The one with a mile-long waiting list and a pristine reputation that’s very well-deserved.

Only now, I’m on hiatus. Because after years of pleasing women all over the city, my man missile decides to get finicky. And the only woman he wants? Someone I can never have—my best friend’s younger sister, the nerdy and awkwardly adorable Sienna.

She’s working at the agency this summer, keeping me organized, handling paperwork, and most importantly, keeping me on track to finish writing my book about sex and intimacy, which is due to my publisher in thirty days.

She thinks I hate her, that I don’t want her here. The truth is much more twisted. I get hard every time she walks into my office. Her wide blue eyes and pouty mouth drive me wild with desire, and if she stays, I’m not sure how much longer I can stay away from her.

Little Miss Overachiever says she’s here to help? Fine. I’m going to put her nerdy, curvy tush to work.

Review for Across the Horizon by Aly Martinez

“Sometimes love happens when you least expect it.” That was what my husband’s mistress told me the day I found out about their affair.

I didn’t believe it until five minutes later when mouth-watering celebrity chef Tanner Reese walked up, tossed his arm around my shoulders, and told my cheating husband to take a hike.

Tanner and I couldn’t have been more different. He spent his weekends at clubs, rubbing elbows with fellow A-listers. I spent mine in yoga pants with cheese boards and a glass of wine—or six.

Our relationship shouldn’t have worked, but it did. That is until Tanner proved to me that even though love happens when you least expect it...

So does heartbreak.

My 4 star review

Super cute fast read!

Tanner, oh Tanner! Please come to my home and cook for me!

Tanner is a very famous chef and he may or may not have secrets in his closet. I liked me some Tanner. All joking aside he means well and I love the soft spot that he has for Rita.

Rita, my poor poor Rita. This smart young thrityish woman( I can say that because I am 36) had a very bad strike of luck. Her husband and is a total C you next Thursday. Well hey wait, can you call a guy that?

Well Greg, you are a big jerk! Big jerk.

This read will have you laughing and swooning all in the same breathe.

Oh and P.S..
I really need a Ninja Warrior set up in my backyard.

Loved this book! Go and get it!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Originally from Savannah, Georgia, USA Today bestselling author Aly Martinez now lives in South Carolina with her husband and four young children.

Never one to take herself too seriously, she enjoys cheap wine, mystery leggings, and baked feta. It should be known, however, that she hates pizza and ice cream, almost as much as writing her bio in the third person.

She passes what little free time she has reading anything and everything she can get her hands on, preferably with a super-sized tumbler of wine by her side.

Review for All The Missing Girls by Megan Miranda

Like the spellbinding psychological suspense in The Girl on the Train and Luckiest Girl Alive, Megan Miranda’s novel is a nail-biting, breathtaking story about the disappearances of two young women—a decade apart—told in reverse.

It’s been ten years since Nicolette Farrell left her rural hometown after her best friend, Corinne, disappeared from Cooley Ridge without a trace. Back again to tie up loose ends and care for her ailing father, Nic is soon plunged into a shocking drama that reawakens Corinne’s case and breaks open old wounds long since stitched.

The decade-old investigation focused on Nic, her brother Daniel, boyfriend Tyler, and Corinne’s boyfriend Jackson. Since then, only Nic has left Cooley Ridge. Daniel and his wife, Laura, are expecting a baby; Jackson works at the town bar; and Tyler is dating Annaleise Carter, Nic’s younger neighbor and the group’s alibi the night Corinne disappeared. Then, within days of Nic’s return, Annaleise goes missing.

Told backwards—Day 15 to Day 1—from the time Annaleise goes missing, Nic works to unravel the truth about her younger neighbor’s disappearance, revealing shocking truths about her friends, her family, and what really happened to Corinne that night ten years ago.

Like nothing you’ve ever read before, All the Missing Girls delivers in all the right ways. With twists and turns that lead down dark alleys and dead ends, you may think you’re walking a familiar path, but then Megan Miranda turns it all upside down and inside out and leaves us wondering just how far we would be willing to go to protect those we love.

My 3.5 star review

This read was very inviting and there were some parts that had me jumping. There were also some parts that made it hard to sleep at night

This is definitely a thriller, that is for sure. I was thinking I knew who the killer was this whole time but boy was I wrong.

Then this read has you thinking if we are all monsters on the inside and how many people do you know that are covering one heck of a lie.

I didn't like the end of this read. I felt like it was very Gone Girl. But then again I loved to hate that book because of the ending.

I will say that Tyler and David gave me the creeps times 10. Laura is a beast, at least I think so. She does what she has to do for her family.

The one character that my heart broke for was Everett, he could of made her so happy. I mean he was willing to do this but I feel like she will never really be happy.

I wanted this book to turn out completely different. I was definitely a fast read because these words will drawl you in.

While reading this book Monster by Eminem kept playing in my head...

This book has been sitting on my bookshelf since May of last year. My husband bought me all 3 books and I hate to admit this but I am just now diving in.

My daughter yelled at me and told me that I have to read all three books by next weekend. So here I am finished and in love with book 1 and starting book 2.

I have to devour these 3 books so I can watch the movie on Netflix, per my oldest daughter. She has watched the movie 3 times and I dying for me to watch it too.

Lara Jean is such a sweetheart and she deserves any guy in my book. I am not sure if I like Margaret she is kinda mean and a control freak. Now kitty I just love her. She reminds me of my youngest daughter, I am not even kidding.

This book is so good and Jenny Han will wrap you and suck you into the world of the Song girls and I promise you will love every minute of it.

There is so much and so many guys and not in a bad way at all. But there are letters that were sent by accident or were they?... to the boys that Lara Jean has loved.

And that my fellow bookies is all that I will tell you. Ugh..I did my first mini Spoiler Alert. I am so sorry blame Jenny Han for writing such an addictive book. It wasn't my fault!
