Connected by Sea by E.L. Todd (Happy Release Day)

5 Stars

Living in paradise, Sydney loves her job, her friends, and her passion for marine biology. Her best friend, Henry, has an invested interest in her, but Sydney never seems to notice. While Henry is the perfect man, she only dates the wrong guys. Her ex-boyfriend cheated on her, broke her heart, and now she’s too shattered to give anyone a chance. Until Coen… A sexy bad boy with a tattoo, he elicits dark desires Sydney hasn’t felt in so long. His intense eyes, the color of the sea, capture her sight, making it impossible to look away. She tries to avoid him, knowing he’s no good for her, but Coen, who always getting what he wants, doesn’t take no for an answer. Will Sydney regret this decision? Or will she find what’s been missing her entire life? The family she lost, the loves she misses, and the trust she never thought she could have for someone else.

My Review

I want to start off by saying this is the first book from E.L. Todd that I have read. I am so happy that I received an ARC to read this book, because it is that good. This book is so good that I devoured it in less than 4 hours. Happy Release Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sydney is a janitor at an aquarium and she lives in Oahu Hawaii. She is also a student in college. She loves the ocean and always has, that is her paradise and she is going nowhere. Sydney is a very beautiful girl and she doesn’t even know it. She can be blind a lot of the time. She can relate more to animals than people you can say. When she is sad and upset she often finds herself talking to Rose (a dolphin). She know with every fiber of her being that Rose can hear and understand her emotions. She is a very strong girl and she has been through so much. But she keeps that from the people she loves and she finds herself re-living her past in her dreams, that turn into nightmares.

Sydney got me sucked into her world on page 3! OMG……when she was talking to Rose (a dolphin) that was so freaking cool. I am a huge dolphin lover. (I even have a dolphin tattoo)

Henry is Sydney’s best friend and has been for a while. He is in love with her and she doesn’t even see it. Henry often finds himself getting sad, because he hasn’t told her how much he loves her. They spend so much time together work, school, dinners, movies, watching television, and many other things. He isn’t going anywhere any time soon and he is always there for her whenever she needs him.

Then Coen a guy in one of her classes catches her eye. He is tall, toned, hot, sexy, with a tattoo. But we all know that guys with tattoos are bad boys. But never judge a book by its cover. EVER cause you could be totally wrong. Coen fails a test and his father insist on having him tutored, so the professor picks Sydney to help tutor Coen. Coen and Sydney become very fast friends. Coen finds himself not wanting to be away from her. Coen has been through a few bad moments in his life.

Can we get what we want? Not always! When we learn to say no and live for ourselves and not others? Soon I hope!

This book is crazy good! Like I said I was sucked in at page 3. I love  all the characters in this story. I am a huge fan of Sydney of course but there was a few times I just wanted to shake her. (LOL)Henry with his sweet hearted self totally had me going. I was like I heart Henry right away. Then Coen came along and swooned me away from Henry. Now I so want to go to Hawaii and swim with the dolphins. I did not want this book to end. This was such a well written story, that it was like these characters where my friends. So with all that mini information, please get this book when it comes out. I know you will enjoy it as much as I have.

About the Author

My journey to this profession was slightly unorthodox. I received my bachelor's degree in biological sciences, worked as an award-winning researcher, and worked various jobs to pay the bills. While I enjoyed every moment of this adventure, it wasn't my passion. I've been writing since I was a young girl and have read anything that I can get my hands on. When people ask me what my favorite book is, I always respond, "All of them."

After I showed my work to my closest friends and gained their confidence, I realized that this is something I could commit my life to, something that I love. I never imagined--dreamed--that I could make a living as a writer. This is the greatest profession that I ever could have asked for, and I am so thankful for the support from everyone in my life. How many other jobs let you work in your pajamas?

My first novel, Soul Catcher, was released in August 2013, and my second novel, Soul Binders, is also available. The Saga concludes in early 2014. I hope you've enjoyed reading this series as much as I've enjoyed writing it. The Forever and Always series is another passion of my mine because I enjoy contemporary romance. The fifth book and six books in the series will be available soon, and my alpha series is also available. Thank you for all the support. It's been a pleasure.
