Release Day: Where Sea Meets Sky by Karina Halle

WHERE SEA MEETS SKY
KARINA HALLE

A new adult novel that perfectly captures the existential angst of your early twenties with raw wit, fresh insight, and true feeling from a critically adored USA TODAY bestselling author.

Joshua Miles has spent his early twenties spinning his wheels. Working dead-end jobs and living at home has left him exhausted and uninspired, with little energy to pursue his passion for graphic art. Until he meets Gemma Henare, a vivacious out-of-towner from New Zealand. What begins as a one-night stand soon becomes a turning point for Josh. He can’t get Gemma out of his head, even after she has left for home, and finds himself throwing caution to the wind for the first time in his life.

It’s not long before Josh is headed to New Zealand with only a backpack, some cash, and Gemma’s name to go on. But when he finally tracks her down, he finds his adventure is only just beginning. Equally infatuated, Gemma leads him on a whirlwind tour across the beautiful country, opening Josh up to life, lust, love, and all the messy heartache in between. Because, when love drags you somewhere, it might never let go—even when you know you have to say goodbye.

EXCERPT:
“Gemma,” I whisper softly. Before I know what I’m doing, I’m raising her palm to my lips and kissing along her scar. She smells so good, feels even better.
She lets me do it for a moment then she awkwardly clears her throat.
Don’t make me let go, I think. Please don’t make me let go.
The rustle in the bushes is back again. Gemma jerks her hand away, as if we’re about to be caught by Nick the Peeping Tom, as if we’re doing something wrong.
                Are we doing something wrong?
Suddenly the air around us fills with squeals, and the rustling increases. The nearest bush to us at the base of the yard, near the fence, starts to move back and forth.
I stand up out of my chair to get a better look and see what looks to be little creatures waddling out of the bushes and heading for the side of the house. Once they hit a patch of light coming from the house, I can see what they are.
                Little blue penguins.
“What the fuck?” I say softly, feeling like my mind has just imploded. “What the hell are those?”
“Little blue penguins,” she says proudly.
I turn to her in disbelief. “Are you serious?” I thought I was making that up. In my head.
She nods. “Yup. Little blue penguins.”
And she’s right. They’re about a foot high, miniature versions of the ones I’ve seen on TV, and they’re entirely blue in color. I thought it was just the darkness playing tricks on me but no, once they hit the light, you can see the color on their oily feathers.
“I don’t get it,” I say, watching as the last of their group quickly scampers out of sight. That might have been the cutest and weirdest thing I have ever seen.
“You never head of them?” she asks. “They probably have a burrow under the house. It’s actually quite common for beach houses.”
“Look, I wasn’t lying when I said I didn’t do a whole lot of research about the country.”
“I can see that,” she says. “Well, how about that, then.”
“How about that,” I say, sitting back down. The penguins’ magical appearance has somehow taken Gemma’s heartbreaking story to another place, and she’s quick to jump on the transition. She tells me all about the interesting birdlife in New Zealand, from yellow-eyed penguins on the Otago Peninsula down south, to the Kea—cheeky green parrots that live in the snow-covered Alps. She’s animated as she tells me all she knows, and I absorb it like a sponge.

I drink my beer and she goes back to drinking hers, and before Nick, Amber, and the Irish show up all sloshed, she’s painted a beautiful picture of what’s to come. I can only hope I’ll continue to be part of the picture.

BLOG TOUR: My review for Eryn LaPlant's Falling For Freedom: Breaking Free

Falling for Freedom
by Eryn LaPlant

* She needed his help. He needed her strength *

FBI Special Agent Cara Giosino is ballsy and relentless when it comes to justice. When she finds herself in London in furious pursuit of the notorious casino mogul and crime lord Feng Khai, she must give up her solo act and rely upon the fearless Interpol agent who caught Khai the first time.
Edward Hannel is not the man he once was. Tragedy has struck him down, leaving him a shell of his former self. He wants nothing to do with Interpol or the sexy Agent Giosino and her plan to take down the criminal who extorted his brother two years prior. That is until he discovers the madman’s vengeance is still focused on his family.

As they race to capture Khai and protect Edward’s family, neither Cara nor Edward realizes the depth to which this case will take them or how fast their partnership will bloom. And they certainly don’t expect to find such bliss in each other’s arms when they finally give in to letting go and being free..

My 5 star review

Edward Hannel is this beautiful man that had his heart broken and then ripped out. He suffered a horrible tragedy and he is no longer the man that he used to be. He used to work at Inerpol and now he is on a leave of absence do to an unthinkable tragedy.

Cara Giosino is an FBI agent who is determinded to get what and who she needs to solve her case. Cara has wanted to be an FBi agent since she was a little girl because she wanted to follow in her father's footsteps.

Now I have to say that the very first page of this book had my on the edge of my seat and I knew right then that I would not be putting this book down anytime soon. I loved this book and I also loved the characters too.

Edward is the broken man and Cara can see that and she has somewhat been in his shoes. She is determined to help him get through all his ghost. I have to say that this is an amazing book and I would love to see this book become a Lifetime movie.

Bravo Eryn and I can't wait to get my hands on the next book!!

Growing up an only child, I was lucky enough to have a huge brood of cousins to help me get into all sorts of trouble. Long summers spent on various family members' farms gave me a deep appreciation for the outdoors and horses. I worked my way through college training horses as a result of those summers.
After 15 years editing books for strangers, I decided to try my own hand at writing. Big Game: Hunted Love #1 was my debut, and my story idea file is endless. Now that the Hunted Love series is finished, I might work on a romance series featuring soldiers returning from war and set twenty years in the future. And after that, there's a Roman Gladiator who keeps insisting on telling me his story... or maybe the pirate, or even the spy, will be next. We'll see...

Review: Of Lone Headstones Book 1 by Jorge Bocanegra

What's worse, the monsters crawling out of their graves or the ones that we can't keep buried in our minds?

Joel has long been a victim to the viscous teeth of the assumptions and misconceptions conjured in his own mind concerning his relationship with his girlfriend, Alex. After three years together, things just haven't been the same. But now, those monstrous doubts in his head will become personified in the form of risen corpses in the city of Orchard.

Will Joel and Alex be able to put aside their differences and survive together? Or will this apocalyptic event spell the perfect opportunity for the couple to go their separate ways?

This book used to be titled "Headstone Sonata."

My 5 Star Review

This book was written beautifully almost poetic...This author had me right there along side Joel.

When Joel and Alex were talking to one another in the car it was as if I was watching my own personal life play out in front of me.

Then when all hell is breaking loose Joel falls in love again with the love of his life. You might be saying really Cecily...falling in love at a time lie that. Yes, just like that.

I have to say that I loved this book and the ending was sadly perfect! This story is short and sweet with lots of blood.

Bravo to this author!!! You made me scared, happy, and sad all in one breath. Amazing!

Review for Unforgettable Sun Hale Brothers Series Book Three Kathryn Andrews

Unforgettable Sun
by
Kathryn Andrews

Matt Hale
I’ve never really been included. I’ve never felt like I truly belonged. But then again, how could I? Living on this island, I’ve seen and heard too many things. Lies. Secrets. Lies I’ve been forced to tell and secrets I’ve been forced to keep. They keep me locked to myself. They’re the reason I stand on the edge of the horizon and watch from afar. Other people’s lives have evolved, but not mine. It’s exactly the same. Day after day, the sun rises, and every time its rays penetrate my skin, I’m reminded that no matter how desperately I don’t want to be, I’m trapped. I want to live. I want to breathe. I just want to be . . . free.
Elle Summers
If I had my way, I would have walked off the catwalk and straight out of the public eye years ago. Never-ending contracts and obligations have kept me prisoner until recently. Now it is fear that has me trapped and running from my life. I’m now hiding in a tiny beach cottage in my mother’s hometown, praying no one will find me. No one understands. The demands, lack of control, threats . . . I just want it all gone. I want to escape. When do I finally get to be me? Free.

My 5 star review

I have to be honest and say that when I got to the very last word of this book I had tears streaming down my face. I fell in love with Drew the oldest Hale Brother in book 1 and then I fell head over heels in love with Beau in book 2 but after reading Unforgettable Sun I now know who the go to brother is. Is it even possible to love three brothers at once...well yes it is and it is all Kathryn Andrews fault too!
This book blew me away because I feel like I watched these guys grow up and then I was shocked because things were happening right under my nose and I didn't even see any of it coming. That is why Kathryn is an amazing author.
She will give you love, romance, drama, lies, betrayal, and so much more in her books. The Hales Brother's series is her baby and you can tell it too by every word she wrote. I hope that she can have just 5 more books...ok at least 1 more book in this series because I am not ready to put them on my shelf just yet.
Kathryn Andrews bravo on making me fall in love with Drew, Beau, and Matt! You have blown me away with Unforgettable Sun and I have to say that this book is the best one of the series...I am sorry Drew and Beau...I still adore you both! BUT Matt just climbed his way to the top of my list!

 About the Author:
I was once asked to give a three minute presentation describing who I am and here's what I came up with . . .

Over ten years ago my husband and I were driving from Chicago to Tampa and somewhere in Kentucky I remember seeing a billboard that was all black with five white words, "I do, therefore I am!" I'm certain that it was a Nike ad, but for me I found this to be completely profound.

Take running for example. Most will say that a runner is someone who runs five days a week and runs under a ten minute mile pace. Well, I can tell you that I never run five days a week and on my best days my pace is an eleven minute mile. I have run six half marathons and one full marathon. No matter what anyone says, I am a runner. I do, therefore I am.

I've taken this same thought and applied it to so many areas of my life: cooking, gardening, quilting, and yes . . . writing.

I may not be culinary trained, but I love to cook and my family and friends loves to eat my food. I cook, therefore I am a chef!

My thumb is not black. I love to grow herbs, tomatoes, roses, and lavender. I garden, therefore I am a gardener!

I love beautiful fabrics and I can follow a pattern. My triangles may not line up perfectly . . . but who cares, my quilts are still beautiful when they are finished. I quilt, therefore I am a quilter.

I have been writing my entire life. It is my husband who finally said, "Who cares if people like your books or not? If you enjoy writing them and you love your stories . . . then write them." He has always been my biggest fan and he was right. Being a writer has always been my dream and what I said I wanted to be when I grew up.

So, I've told you who I am and what I love to do . . . now I'm going to tell you the why.

I have two boys that are three years a part. My husband and I want to instill in them adventure, courage, and passion. We don't expect them to be perfect at things, we just want them to try and do. It's not about winning the race, it's about showing up in the first place. We don't want them to be discouraged by society stereotypes, we want them to embrace who they are and what they love. After all, we only get one life.

In the end, they won't care how many books I actually sell . . . all that matters to them is that I said I was going to do it, I did it, and I have loved every minute of it.

Find something that you love and tell yourself, "I do, therefore I am."

Thanks for stopping by....

Kathryn

Review for Hard Cheryl McIntyre

RELEASE DAY BLITZ & BLOG TOUR
Title: HARD
Author: Cheryl McIntyre
Release Date: March 20, 2015

HARD Synopsis:

I have been staring at her for three months. Watching her. Memorizing her.

For ninety-two days, I’ve looked into those lifeless green eyes.

And for ninety-two days she has inspired me in ways I never knew possible. A muse, unbeknownst to her. Motivating me. Encouraging my darkest desires.

I’m a man who knows what he wants. And what I want is the beautiful and broken Holland Howard.

My name is Jensen Payne—photographer, autocrat, lecher, Scopophiliac. I am who I am and I will not—cannot—change.

*This is an Erotic Romance. Recommended for readers 18+ ONLY.
WARNING: This book contains possible emotional triggers.
HARD is a full-length stand-alone erotic romance novel (approximately 50,000 words).

My 5 Star Review

This book was Phenomenal! Cheryl McIntyre did one hell of a job with this book and I am trying my hardest not to spoil this book for you....so forgive me if I give 1 or 2 things away.

Jensen is this mysterious man who takes photos of women in erotic possess. He is the type of man that knows what he wants. In his own words he says... "My name is Jensen Payne—photographer, autocrat, lecher, Scopophiliac. I am who I am and I will not—cannot—change. “So I will say that I was a little nervous with this character and I wasn't sure about him.
Holland is a woman that had her life pretty much just taken from her. She has so much happen in her life and it left her heart, soul, and mind broken. So she did what anyone would in that position, she ran away. Now I will not go into details on her because I might ruin it for you...
Jensen and Holland are the BEST book characters. They are the perfect fit and they are so flipping imperfect. These two are not your typical character and that is why I love the *hit out of both of them.
So when I say that this book was a phenomenal read it was. This book had me hanging onto to every word that was written. I needed to know more and more and more!! I never wanted to put this book down because I never wanted to leave the world of Jensen and Holland. This book sucked me in and I promise it will do the same to you.
Once I was finished reading this book I literally cried and I mean sobbed like a baby. I mean driving in the car balling and the person that was driving was like...” Cecily are you ok? You can talk to me."  Why you ask?? Well I can relate to Jensen...some what and when I read his story. Yes, I said his story because this man touched my heart in a very special way.
Now there is some pretty hot sex in this book and well you already know that this man is on my list of HOT book boyfriends but this particular man will now and forever be in my heart.
Cheryl McIntyre I have read every single book of yours and I have to say that this is my favorite one. You gave me Jensen and apparently I needed him. So thank you for giving us this amazing, broken, loving, sexy, caring, hard man!
