Review: The Light we Lost by Jill Santopolo

Lucy is faced with a life-altering choice. But before she can make her decision, she must start her story—their story—at the very beginning. Lucy and Gabe meet as seniors at Columbia University on a day that changes both of their lives forever. Together, they decide they want their lives to mean something, to matter. When they meet again a year later, it seems fated—perhaps they’ll find life’s meaning in each other. But then Gabe becomes a photojournalist assigned to the Middle East and Lucy pursues a career in New York. What follows is a thirteen-year journey of dreams, desires, jealousies, betrayals, and, ultimately, of love. Was it fate that brought them together? Is it choice that has kept them away? Their journey takes Lucy and Gabe continents apart, but never out of each other’s hearts.

My 5 star review

I just finished this book and my heart is literally beating so flipping fast.

Wow....

I don't know what to think. My heart hurts right now. Lucy is a fierce woman and my heart broke for her. I am team Lucy but now honestly I am not sure what team I need to be on.

I don't why and how she could so something like that to Darren. I mean hell how could she do that?! Does he even know that truth?!

Then you have Gabe! Gabe is this crazy awesome smart guy who is so darn selfish. He wanted Lucy but then he wanted and need to prove something to himself. So he just up and left her, he broke her.

Oh and let's not forget Darren. I am not sure I can say anything bad about him...well yes I can he loved Lucy so damn much! And I believe he got the crap end of the deal.

I wanted to jump into this book and slap Lucy, Gabe, and Darren!

Then I started to think, what if my life was different and my heart hurt. I couldnt imagine my life without my husband. To me what I had in the past with past individuals are in the past. Done and over with, that is why it is the past.

I will tell you that this book is incredible. Even though these characters are so loveable and frustrating.
