Review: Chasing Daylight by Carey Heywood

Mitch Brooks exists day to day by keeping the world around him at arm’s length. There is no going back to the man he once was. That man is broken in a way there’s no fixing. Any hope beyond that is nothing but wishful thinking, until he meets her.
McKenzie Williams needed an escape. The last thing she needed was a scary beautiful man beating down her door in the middle of the night. Now, if only their paths would stop crossing, she can convince herself she doesn’t feel a connection to him. Life has shown her the dreams she once held dear will never come true for her.
Mitch struggles to get past the walls he’s built around himself, while McKenzie works to build hers brick by brick. When the outside world exposes the vulnerabilities in his façade, she abandons her own fears to stand by him. Will she be the one to save him from the darkness within him? Or will he forever be chasing daylight?

My 5 star review

I loved this book. You have a wounded man who would rather be alone and live life in darkness than be happy due to fear. Then you have a woman who is not even ready for another disappointed in a man.
Carey Heywood put these two characters together and it will just simply warm your heart and soul. These two characters are awesome to me.
I see a lot of her characteristics in me. Sick of men doing dumb shit and telling us down but then we have to remember we also play a part in the raw hand too. Then she gives me...I mean us Mitch. All I can say is I would spend eternity trying to bring him back to life!
The concept behind this book is amazing and the fact that the author explain how and why she wrote this books gives me goosebumps. That is why I love to read and review books. The realness of life, of someone else's life. It is truly amazing.
Reading this books makes me what to go out and do something amazing, help save someone, or be a small piece of wonderful and touch someone's life.
So thank you Carey Heywood for emailing me this amazing read and letting me have a little piece of Mitch. I will take a little piece of him and carry him with me. Cheers to another fabulous story!!
