Review for Kyland by Mia Sheridan

Kyland
by
Mia Sheridan

Dirt poor. Hillbilly. Backwoods hick. Mountain folk.
Tenleigh Falyn struggles each day to survive in a small, poverty-stricken, coal mining town where she lives with her sister and mentally ill mother. Her dream of winning the college scholarship given to one student by the local coal company and escaping the harshness of her life, keeps her going.
Kyland Barrett lives in the hills, too, and has worked tirelessly—through near starvation, through deep loneliness, against all odds—to win the Tyton Coal Scholarship and leave the town that is full of so much pain.
They're both determined not to form any attachments, but one moment changes everything. What happens when only one person gets to win? When only one person gets to leave? And what happens to the one left behind?
Kyland is a story of desperation and hope, loss and sacrifice, pain and forgiveness, but ultimately, a story of deep and unending love.
THIS IS A STAND-ALONE SIGN OF LOVE NOVEL, INSPIRED BY TAURUS. New Adult Contemporary Romance: Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

My 5 star review

First off this book is amazing!! This book was inspired by Taurus and well I am a May baby...
Kyland Barrett is very poor and some months the lights/heat are on and well some months they aren’t. He is a young man still in high school trying to make ends met by doing what he needs to do to survive. His main goal is to get through school and win a full ride scholarship so he can leave and run away to New York. He has had to deal with so much all alone and it broke my heart. It amazed me how unbelievable he is and the fact that he still goes on with everyday life, when he could have given up months ago.

Tenleigh Falyn is also poor and she is trying to make ends meet too. Her father ran off when she was a young girl. She and her sister have to be the adults in the home and help their sick mother at the same time. She too has the same goal as Kyland...school and getting the hell out of town. Her main goal is to get win that scholarship and run to California.

These two young people become friends because let’s face it we all need someone. We can't get through this world on our own. We need friends, a hug, a kiss, and a shoulder to cry on. I truly love the bond that the two of them have. They have such a strong friendship and it is freaking adorable.
While reading this book my heart broke for both of these characters. They have the *hit end of the deal with everything that they both have been through. I want them to have a happy ever after. Then the author throws a huge bomb and then boom Tenleigh and Kyland part from each other. They don't see each other or speak for 4...yes 4 years!!!

This book is amazing and there isn't one part of it that I disliked. Mia Sherdian you are brilliant and I enjoy reading everything you write. You want secrets, lies, love, romance, and true everlasting love...then you want to go out and get this book. Trust me when I tell you that this book pull at your heartstrings.

Oh and one last thing....I love Kyland and I was shocked and so happy with how the book ended.
