Review for Flightless by L. Duarte

Everyone has a story.

Mine went like this: Once upon a time, I met a boy. He was the most handsome fella in the land. I fell in love. Together, we had cosmic chemistry. I believed I would live a life of unending bliss. Until he broke my heart. Shattered it to pieces. And I lived unhappily ever after instead. The end.

Or so I thought.

Life found a way to reunite us. But to change that unhappy ending, I had to learn how to forgive. And my heart seemed unable to do so.

This is a love story. But it is also, much more. It’s the story of how I coped with my shortcomings, my fears and rewrote my destiny. Everyone has a story. This is mine.

My 5 star review

L. Duarte I have read all of your books and they are all amazing but Flightless is on a whole new level for me. This book was a complete shocker for me.
How you managed to make me hate the man of my dreams but then turn around and make me want to grovel for his forgiveness.
This story is about two young teenagers who are madly in love. They are wanting and planning to grow together, get married, have babies, and even grandbabies.
Then he does something that is unforgiving and he ends up breaking her heart.
So she leaves her home town and tries to find herself through music. She is now a super famous music artist. She took all of the hurtful memories of her past and turned them into hit records.
But one phone call had her running back to her home town and now all her locked up emotions are running wild. She is turning into the woman that she swore she would never become again.
Now that is all I am willing to say because I don’t want to spoil this read for you.
I will tell you that this book is not predictable. While reading this book I was sitting there in shock, I mean my mouth was literally hanging open with what unfolds
I loved this book. This book brought out so many emotions for me. I was happy, sad, pissed off, in love, and swooned.
Again L. Duarte you did a hell of a job with this book. As soon as you emailed me I had a huge smile of my face. That is exactly what your books do to me. All of your books have touched my heart and soul.
You have no idea how much I needed this book right now. I have a few people I think I need to forgive and life is too short, we are not promised tomorrow.
 Enjoy reading!

About the Author:
I have found that there is only one thing better than reading, and that is writing. I am always torn between the two. I am also frequently torn between chocolate and coffee. However, I emphatically do not like the month of February, lies, and flies. For me, bravery is defined by the courage to do what we fear the most.
One of my all-time favorite quote is from Albert Einstein. "There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle." I live according to the latter, so is fair to say my writing will always include miracles. And by that I mean, lots of love, hope, and faith. These are some of the greatest miracles of life. I live in Connecticut with my husband and two children. Drop a few lines. I would love to hear from you.

It was a simple offer.

I invited Isla to rent a room in my five thousand square foot home. Plenty of rooms and plenty of space. But the second she moved in, I knew I was in trouble. I could handle wanting her when there was distance between us, but once we started to play house, all my pent up desire started knocking down walls.

That was my first mistake of many.

The private investigator I hired to track down my ex found her not far from where I live. I should have locked my past behind me, but something urged me to find her. I’m glad I did. But our union left me with a situation to be reckoned with.

When a new fire is lit and old flames rekindle, one will have to burn out.
The decisions I’ll have to make won’t be easy.
No matter what I choose, my heart will break.

Review: It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover

Sometimes it is the one who loves you who hurts you the most.

Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town in Maine where she grew up—she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. So when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life suddenly seems almost too good to be true.

Ryle is assertive, stubborn, maybe even a little arrogant. He’s also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily. And the way he looks in scrubs certainly doesn’t hurt. Lily can’t get him out of her head. But Ryle’s complete aversion to relationships is disturbing. Even as Lily finds herself becoming the exception to his “no dating” rule, she can’t help but wonder what made him that way in the first place.

As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan—her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.

With this bold and deeply personal novel, Colleen Hoover delivers a heart-wrenching story that breaks exciting new ground for her as a writer. Combining a captivating romance with a cast of all-too-human characters, It Ends With Us is an unforgettable tale of love that comes at the ultimate price.

My 5 Star Review:

I have had this book on my shelf for a while now. I have been so busy that I forgot it was there.
Then I was talking to my coworker and she said "OMG you have to read this book, now."
So I just finished this book and it is 2am.
I am overwhelmed with emotions right now. It feels like half of my heart is hurting and the other half is filled with so much joy.
I am not going to go into details with you because this book, this story deserves to be read with fresh eyes.
I will share this...and this was a heart-stopping moment for me. After reading this I turned to my husband and just asked him to hold me and he did with no questions asked.
"In the future...if by some miracle you ever find yourself in the position to fall in love again...fall in love with me." He presses his lips against my forehead. "You're still my favorite person, Lily.
Atlas said that to Lily and right then and there I knew that this book was more than just a book to me.
Colleen Hoover you are an amazing writer and I just want to say thank you for writing this story. You have touched my heart more than you will ever know.

Review: Confess by Colleen Hoover

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Colleen Hoover, a new novel about risking everything for love—and finding your heart somewhere between the truth and lies.

At age twenty-one, Auburn Reed has already lost everything important to her. In her fight to rebuild her shattered life, she has her goals in sight and there is no room for mistakes. But when she walks into a Dallas art studio in search of a job, she doesn’t expect to find a deep attraction to the enigmatic artist who works there, Owen Gentry.

For once, Auburn takes a chance and puts her heart in control, only to discover that Owen is keeping a major secret from coming out. The magnitude of his past threatens to destroy everything important to Auburn, and the only way to get her life back on track is to cut Owen out of it.

To save their relationship, all Owen needs to do is confess. But in this case, the confession could be much more destructive than the actual sin.

My 5 star review:

This book made heart hurt so good. I loved every part of this book.

To be honest, I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I stated this book.

Adam and Auburn are a real life puppy love story. You want the story to continue and live on forever. But we know how ugly the world is and that is the moment my heart shattered for Auburn.

Then Owen and his Confessions come in and start to take my breath away. There was one confession that made me bawl my eyes out and then I remembered the dedication of this story.

There are so many surprises in this book. This story is incredible and beautiful! I truly wish that out in the world somewhere there is an art studio that is full of confessions. What I wish for most is that there really is an Auburn and Owen.

I promise the very last chapter will give you goosebumps while tears are streaming down your face. I am officially in love!

Once you read this book you will understand and you too will feel every emotion that Colleen has put into this book!

Hands down this is the best book of 2016, no lie!!
