Review: Armored By Mary E Palmerin

Armored

Dive into the life of another character in the tragic and heart-wrenching Sorrow Series.

Garrett Joesph Harper was not the man he once was. His life was altered years ago when his best friend and fellow Marine, Trent, was killed before him while serving in Afghanistan. Circumstances went from bad to worse when his baby sister, Lyla, was the victim of a grisly attack that nearly took her life.

When Lyla finally seems like she is on the bridge to recovering from the life that she once had with the help of her soon-to-be-husband, Everett, Garrett is sinking deeper into the abyss of darkness.

With the memories of all the gruesomeness that has plagued him, he goes about life on autopilot, spending his small-town life working at the coal mines and drinking his paychecks away at Rigdon's holy place for gossip and trouble, King's Bar.

But Garrett's flame of life is lit once more by Brooklyn Lancaster, a woman who has had eyes for him as long as she knew what love was. Will the connection Brooklyn has to Garrett's past prevent them from moving forward? Or will something more serious and permanent tear the two new-found lovers away just when both feel a sense of normalcy for the first time in years.

In this second novella of the Sorrow Series, you will have insight into another character's past, pain, sorrow, and yes, hope. Be prepared for many twists and turns. You know what they say... nothing is ever what it seems.

My 5 Star review

Mary E. Palmerin you did it again! Your creative mind leaves me speechless with every book of yours that I read. Succumbing to Scars and Sorrow, Secrets of a Broken Girl, and Shadows of Scars and Sorrow were simply amazing. I am still in shock that you have made me fall into the characters worlds. I feel like I am emotionally invested in this series. I blame you, with your amazing writing. I want to crawl inside your mind and sit there with a Chai Tea Latte from Starbucks and absorb your creativity. If you have not read her work, then shame on you! You are missing out on an amazing real, raw, intense, and emotional story.

Garrett I have to have you! He is so sexy, dark, hurt, intense, emotional, raw, brokenhearted, and lost. He is my dark angel. Well that is what I call him at least. When I read Succumbing to Scars and Sorrow I quickly became a fan of Garrett. He has such a good soul and he cares for the people that he loves. He is so hard on himself for what happen with his best-friend. He still holds sadness from his past with his father, and he still is furious about the pain his sister had endured.

Brooklyn, Brooklyn….if you weren’t such a cute, strong, rare character I would be totally jealous. I can relate to her in more ways than one, so in my opinion I freaking love her character. While reading this book I wanted to give her everything I have to make her happy, crazy, maybe….wait till you read it and then you will agree with me! Wink! Wink! The passion that is in this girl is unreal and she can teach someone a thing or two about passion. Her character blows my mind.

This story….Garrett and Brooklyn’s story will make you an emotional mess, but it will be so worth it. I love every book that Mary E. Palmerin has written and I love Lyla and Everett, but this book right here is her best! I had the pleasure of reading each chapter as she wrote it and I couldn’t get enough. She didn’t send me the last chapter, like she did the others. I am so grateful that she didn’t and I got to re-read my man’s story. Yes ladies I said it my man. (Thank you and your welcome) LOL! I can read about Garrett all day long and I mean that. This book will leave you saying what the heck and now I need so much more!

Mary you prove to me over and over again that you are amazing and creative and that is why you are still, my favorite female author. Thank you for sharing Lyla’s, Everett, Garrett, and Brooklyn’s world with us. You are truly simply amazing at what you do, please never stop writing! EVER.

About the Author

I am 26 years young and I have been writing for as long as I can remember, scribbling fairy tales down on notebook paper as a young girl, writing poetry though my teen years, and many short stories (all of which I have kept).

I love to read, every writer was a reader first. I still remember how I felt when I read The Giver for the first time and the emotions of love, loss and heartache in Gone with the Wind. Being taken to a place away from reality is truly awesome!

I published my debut novel, "Succumbing to Scars and Sorrow" (book 1 of The Sorrow Series) in August 2013. I have been told it is boundary pushing and taboo, but that I wrote it with sensitivity and grace. It is centered around a woman that is all too real, having a dark past that she tries to disassociate herself from and forget about. She finds love, and to me, that is important giving women like her a voice. They deserve their place in the world of HEA. I just released a prequel novella, "Secrets of a Broken Girl" in December 2013 which tells the tale of being a survivor holding onto hope. It describes her journey near the beginning of the darkness, giving my readers insight into the heartbreaking path that she was taken on, the pain that she feels, and the drive that she has to survive, move on, and lead a life free from the memories that haunted her for so many years. My second novel, "Shadows of Scars and Sorrow" (book 2 of The Sorrow Series) is due to be released in April 2014. It is told from my male lead's POV.

I love telling a story that is raw and real. The beauty about writing is evoking various emotions; some people will love it, hate it, be moved by it, or feel indifferent about it. I will always write because it is part of who I am.
