Review for Rome (The Marked Men Series) by Jay Crownover

5 Stars

Sometimes the wrong choice can be just right . . .
Fun and fearless, Cora Lewis knows how to keep her tattooed "bad boy" friends at the Marked in line. But beneath all that flash and sass is a broken heart. Cora won't let herself get burned again. She's waiting to fall in love with the perfect man—a baggage-free, drama-free guy ready for commitment. Then she meets Rome Archer.

Rome Archer is as far from perfect as a man can be. He's stubborn, rigid, and bossy. And he's returned from his final tour of duty more than a little broken. Rome's used to filling many roles: big brother, doting son, supersoldier—but none of those fit anymore. Now he's just a man trying to figure out what to do with the rest of his life while keeping the dark demons of war and loss at bay. He would have been glad to suffer through it alone, until Cora comes sweeping into his life and becomes a blinding flash of color in a sea of gray. Perfect may not be in the cards, but perfectly imperfect could just last forever . . .

Jay Crownover damn you are killing me in such a good way! The Marked Men Series are freaking crazy smoking HOT. I enjoyed Rule and Jet's story for sure. BUT holy moly cheese and rice Rome is by far my favorite.

My Review:

Rome is a hero, he has fought for his country and he has fought for his brothers Rule and Remy. So many things have happened and so many secrets have been revealed. He has so much grief in his heart and he is unsure on how he can be the man he once was.

Cora is a spitfire woman. She is tiny but she can hold her own. She has been through her fair share of heart ache, but she is all about putting the broken people she loves back together.

I went through a lot of emotions while reading this book. I even that I was going to have a heart attack at one point. Then I wanted to whoop some booty, then I also found myself laughing my booty off too. I totally feel hard for Rome and I know you will too.

Can two people that are total opposites truly be happy? Can we really save someone's soul from going completely dark? Can we be someone color in their gray world?

This story is so awesome to me. It is crazy because I see myself in Cora, the whole no filter thing and wanting to save everyone she possibly can. Whether they want saving or not! I also see my other half in Rome, it is kind of nerve wreaking in a crazy awesome way. Rome and Cora are simply a rock hard imperfectly perfect book couple, in my book!!

Right after finishing this story a new friend on Twitter  @rohanbaby said " Book lovers aren't sad. Open a book and you dive into another world. How great is that?" I couldn't of said that any better and when you start this series you will totally get wrapped up in their worlds.

Lastly!!!!! I freaking love Rome's and Cora's Playlist! Please totally listen to Deer Tick by Twenty Miles before reading this story!! My favorite is Free Fallin by Tom Petty on Rome's Playlist.

I am so looking forward to the next book in The Marked Men Series.....Nash!! While reading Rule, Jet, and Rome you will get to see a piece of Nash. Enjoy!!!!!

About the Author:

I’m a native Coloradoan and if you live here you know why that is a source of pride.  I love all the things Colorado has to offer and that is why I choose to set my books in this familiar setting.  I try to write about things I know and am familiar with which is why my stories feature plenty of rock and roll and body modification.

I’ve been in the bar industry since I was in college and I spend over forty hours a week watching the interaction between men and women in a unique way.  I think my 9 to 5 job offers me valuable insights into how relationships start and evolve in a social setting.  I love it.

I like to write New Adult novels because I remember being in my early twenties and thinking I had it all figured out only to be proven wrong time and time again.  When I look back those were the years that defined who I am today, and good or bad those decisions untimely set me on my current path, so that’s what I like to explore in my writing.
